Dropped in here for a late lunch just before closing and we were well liked after! We had to put in our orders rather quickly before the kitchen closed, but the waiter was was very courteous and didn’t pressure us into a snap decision. She also kept our drinks coming despite our late coming. The food was delicious, simple steak sandwiches and chicken burgers (and there was even an amazing vegan salad) served with copious amounts of extremely good chips. Great value for money and awesome service, what more could you want for lunch?

The Meatballs Family met some friends for breakfast a few weeks ago at Cafe Brisbane for Mandy Bernadette’s birthday. The company was the highlight, and the only real positive, of the dining experience. We began with an Iced Latte, a Flat White and a Babyccino. Unfortunately, they forgot the Flat White. I wish I hadn’t reminded them, because the coffee was horrible. Lady Meatball went so far as to say that it was the worst coffee she has had in Brisbane in six years and refused to finish it. I’m not sure it was the worst, but it was really bad. The Babyccino rated a 3.5, the coffees rated a 1.5.For meals, we ordered the Canadian Breakfast, Eggs Benedict and French Toast. The Canadian Breakfast included pancakes, scrambled eggs and bacon. This was the best meal and could best be described as average. This rated a 3.I ordered the Eggs Benedict with Bacon, a side of Bacon and a third poached egg. I like runny eggs, but these eggs were undercooked – more like a 63 degree egg – and actually popped when I went to cut into them. I ate everything, but didn’t enjoy it . This rated a 2.5.The French Toast looked great, but the sourdough bread they used was too firm and didn’t really absorb much of the egg and flavor. This was chewy and bland. Lady Meatball ate about one third, but didn’t find it worth continuing. I ate a few bites, but agreed with her. Fortunately MB is a machine and knocked it out, despite the fact that it wasn’t very good. This rated a 2-2.5.The service was ambivalent at best, poor at worst. The food was poor to average. It is a real shame because the location is fantastic. I can’t see returning unless I hear that they’ve overhauled the menu.

And the birthday celebrations continue! Birthday brekky date with some of my favourite foodies!Located in Brisbane Square at the top of Queen St and across the square from Treasury Casino, Cafe Brisbane makes it presence known.I really like the open style dining area here, so much natural light right throughout. The service I was not too impressed with – one of the servers in particular came across quite abrupt. She seemed uninterested when serving us but watching her talk to someone she appeared to know, she was all smiles and friendly. This same server brought out one of our coffees that was missed and instead of standing between the two ladies and placing it down – she stood at the end of the table, leaned across one lady and handed the coffee to the other. We then had a server come out and ask us how our meals were literally before some of us had even picked up our cutlery. Her question though wasn’t really a question but more of a statement. She asked if our meals were ok and then answered her own question saying ‘yeah it’s good?’.Food and drink. I ordered my usual mocha – lovely coffee, strong, well balanced and not overpowering. I would have liked my coffee a little hotter but it was still lovely. To eat, I ordered the Spanish Omelette with a side of avocado and sourdough toast. Sad to say that the omelette was not exciting at all – tasted quite bland, not very flavourful. The texture was flat, not ‘fluffy’ like many other great omelettes I’ve had. The avocado was nice and fresh – the avocado was still chunky which I prefer; provides a nice texture. Sourdough was toasted nicely. Again, sad to say – I enjoyed the toast more than the omelette!Would I be back? Probably not – there are other places in the CBD that I will try before returning and the service in particular left a sour taste in my mouth. The staff need some training in basic table etiquette and from what I’ve heard, I’m not alone in thinking this. MB Rebecca Meatballs And Beef Cheeks Lady Meatball Mini Meatball Espresso&Matcha

Our usual Saturday brekky, cafe Brisbane was todays choice. The feel and design of this cafe isn’t an issue and quite interesting because there is always something to look at, this to is another rustic cafe within Brisbane city that has exposed pipes, aircon vents and industrial lighting, I love places like this but they have to come with good service and food and today cafe Brisbane lacked both of those things. When you are in the public eye and you are speaking to paying customers getting their orders please be upbeat and dont have the personality of a rock, also when the meals have just landed on our table and we haven’t even picked up the cutlery or taken a bite yet you can’t ask how it tastes yet.I ordered the traditional breakfast with eggs (scrambled) tomatoes, bacon, toast and a side of sausage. Now when I order something I expect to get all the ingredients on my plate as stipulated on the menu, it only occurred to me whilst writing this that I didn’t get my tomato – not on. The only stand out on the dish was the sausage, a beautiful amount of herbs through it and just delicious, the egg was tastless and the bacon was far to salty and that salty in fact because thats all I could taste, couldn’t taste bacon just salt. I then finished the remaining slices of French toast that Lady Meatball couldnt finish and this wasn’t great and can see why she couldn’t finish it, it was very dense and very dry and not enjoyable at all. The coffee was supposed to be the savior but it didn’t live up to expectations, to milky and got weaker the more I drank. Alot of work to be done here to bring this place up to a good standard. Mixed feelings about this one. Both entries have clear signs to wait to be seated, when I asked after being walked past I we told to sit anywhere. I then had to wait for a menu. But once these basics were sorted the service improved and the eggs Florentine with bacon was good, although the menu is quite a basic breakfast menu

Can’t recommend less of this restaurant. Poor service , slower delivery I ever had. Unapologetic staff rude and arrogant. I am totally appalled.

A convenient lunch spot after a long day of shopping in the city. What caught my eye about this place is the open outdoor seating, including the various options of vegan and vegetarian foods. Seating is great with 360 views of the city itself. Our waitress was a plesant American lady with a great sense of humor.I ordered the vegan bowl which I enjoyed – it was hearty with a good serve of colourful vegetables, however a tad heavy on the sauces. My partner ordered the t bone steak but it was very plain (also didn’t look very appetizing) with lots of fat rather than actual meat. Side salad and chips were average (but this is usually the case, isn’t it!).I did like this little cafe but didn’t love it. Not somewhere you’d go for a satisfying steak, not a place id personally think to pick but its good if your in the area and looking for vegetarian food.
