Adorable Staff. I loved going to the little coffee cartel outside Officeworks. The Don is an adorable man who takes the time to learn your order and clearly has a passion for coffee – it just so happens that the temperature of his machine is a tiny bit too high, which makes the normal brews a bit bitter. I’m not sure if this is improved in the shopfront for this brand, but it doesn’t detract for the overall experience. The staff take the time to learn your name, your order and chat to you while they make your coffee, which is my favourite part of the cafe experience. It might be small, but it’s a great place to go!
Disappointing customer service experience. Happened to get off my bus in a different part of the city this morning, so decided to forgo my usual coffee place and try Cartel, knowing the good rep it had. Ordered a large takeaway skinny flat white ($5 – more expensive than most places). Waited happily in the sunshine, watching the staff make the orders during a busy time (just before 9am’sh). Disappointingly, I then watched as my large takeaway coffee sat, made and waiting, with no lid on it, in front of the coffee machine whilst the staff served out various other just-made coffees to three other people who had ordered after me, including a young good looking fellow whom the young female barista gave extra attention to, encouraging him to sip from his full cup of iced latte so she could then top it up with the extra she had left over. Lovely service – for him. Finally my coffee was lidded and handed to me. Sadly, as I took my first sip whilst walking to my office, I realised it was lukewarm, which ruined the whole experience of the coffee. Certainly not worth the $5. If you want to give customers a good coffee experience, you need more than just a good blend – you need experienced staff who know how important the small things are.
Dozens of coffees from here, never a miss.Cartel coffee (the Adelaide street cart) has constantly provided a wonderful blend of coffee, made well, by friendly baristas. Today I grabbed another coffee from Cartel (first in months!) and it truly reminded me how great this little cart outside office works is.Friendly baristas some of whom have been consistent for years make Cartel a sure fire visit on this side of the CBD.Loyalty program is good as well.
Suspended coffees. I have heard they do suspended coffees (paying for an extra coffee for a homeless person to have if needed). If so, and from the reviews, i will head there. 🙂
This place rules. I’m a bit of a coffee snob and the blend here is excellent. Staff are always friendly and efficient. Loyalty cards are a plus too.
Great coffee. I have a coffee from Cartel Coffee almost every morning and it’s always great. I order soy flat white which is often hard to make really nicely (and not taste like cardboard) but the guys nail it every time. This morning was probably the best coffee I’ve ever had and thought to write a review as a result. Would recommend this place to anyone!
Cartel Coffee – Brisbane CBD. It is very quiet on a Sunday in the Central Business District, even within the Queen Street Mall area. Walking around the place after returning some items to the library, I had not too much do to urgently so it was for a bit of a detour. With not much catching the eye on that detour, it was time to head off to the bus – but I still had a slight determination to get a cup of coffee. On King George Square, a persistent detour uncovered an unreal sight – a coffee place open on Sunday, yay!Coffee carts can only really make do with the space that they have; Cartel is at a bit of an advantage in that area. Most of the seating is behind the bus stop bench and it is in a quieter area just next to the stationary store and down the stairs from King George Square. The barista here is not the quickest, I have seen slower service. However, he is organised and friendly. I will say I like the coffee here – there is a moderate strength in ordering a double-shot cappuccino (nothing that will take you by surprise) and it is done by a talented barista. On the side I got a Rocky Board cookie, since it sounded really interesting. Much to say, it was actually pretty good and did not have the tacky aesthetics and after-taste that the more ambitious kinds of sweets tend to have. In this part of the (relatively) tiny city area, this is one place I might go to more often.
