This was on my hit list at the Night Noodle Markets. We entered the venue and straight away joined the queue here at Hoy Pinoy. We got a serving (2 skewers) of the Chicken in Soy Sauce and Pork Belly BBQ in Banana Sauce. Not cheap at $13 odd for 2 skewers with 4 chunks of meat on it but I expect that at these venues. I was most looking forward to the pork but it was the chicken that I enjoyed most. Gorgeous char grill taste!! The use of belly for me was a bit sickening for me in the pork skewers – one skewer was nice with a bit of rendered fat but the second had chunks that were primarily unrendered fat. A 4 for the chicken and 3 for the pork = 3.5 true rating.
I managed to try hoy pinoy in the night noodle market. They are very famous. I tried their inihaw na baboy which is pork belly skewers in banana ketchup glaze. I had been wanting to try their banana ketchup. However, the sauce tasted just a regular sauce for me. It was sweet and tasty but nothing was special. The pork belly was quite tender.
