Really great experience with excellent service, and a nice value for money. They recently started promoting Queensland Seafood so I had to drop in. I really enjoyed my Moreton Bay Bug Pasta and the arancini balls, but that amazing service really made it better.Dessert was the best way to end it. Chocolate fudge sundaes and caramel pear w. Ricotta 🙂 . Nice balance and afterwards we rolled out. foodieadam.com
Came here with family for a Saturday lunch. They had a special festive feast menu ($55 per person) specifically for Christmas and I had the famous antipasti plank, the truffled flash steak and the festive dark chocolate tart. I also managed to try the crunchy Italian nachos, the famous prawn linguine and Jamies Black Forest Panna Cotta. Food:Starters:I was quite happy with my choice of starters, main and dessert. The antipasti plank was very tasty, had a lot of great elements (which I love!) such as the prosciutto ham, olives, sun-dried dip, salami and bocconcini cheese. Some were a bit salty such as the dip and the olives but the flavours balances out well when eaten with bread. The crunchy Italian nachos was quite interesting, it tasted like small pieces of fried bread but it came with pieces of chili and a spicy tomato sauce. Main:The truffled flash steak was amazing! Cooked to perfection and it wasnt too heavy (not like a regular T-bone steak). It was thin with a nice, subtle chargrilled taste to it and tasted great with the portobello mushrooms and red wine sauce. The prawn linguine was average, a bit bland and there were not a lot of prawn in it. Quite disappointing considering what you are paying for it. Dessert:The dark chocolate tart was my favourite, the consistency of the dark chocolate and the biscuit base of it worked really well with the sourness of the raspberry sauce and sweetness of the ice-cream. It was a great way to end a meal with. The Panna cotta was ok, it was quite bland when eaten by itself but it jad a bit of flavour with the cranberry sauce and chocolate flakes. I wish that they would put more cranberry sauce though. Ambiance and Service:The environment is good for a romantic mood as it has a lot of dimmed lighting so the place is a bit dark. Staff were friendly but the food came out a bit slow, mainly because the bar is located on the second floor and the kitchen is downstairs so each waiter must go down and up stairs in order to deliver food to customers. Overall:The special feast menu is a good option as it is much cheaper considering that a main meal would be around $25 – $35 and an entree or dessert is $15 – $25. The proportion is excellent because you get three courses each so it is filling but it doesnt make you feel too bloated. It was definitely worth the price (especially because I chose the steak and antipasti plank) which would have costed heaps more when ordered individually.
Oh how I wanted it to be good. I love Jamie Oliver as a tv personality and know that carluccio was his mentor. So excited when I found out work Christmas party will be held here. The space is great and is perfect for groups. We signed pre booked for one of the Xmas menus. A review dish by dish, the name could be something different but Im naming them as I remember Fried ravioli with tomato Sugo served with freshly grated Parmesan, tasty Antipasto board, nothing extra special but the portions to share were very generous The mains and desserts were not good. Ravioli, all I could taste was cheese and cheese and cheese, nothing else Steak was very dry, very tough and tasteless Prawn linguine, according to other diners as I am sensitive to prawns, pasta was ridiculously over cooked Porcetta was the only reasonable tasting dish. Oddly the roast vegetables that were served with the mains were the most tasty. Dessert is meant to be the highlight of the meal. We were all looking forward to an excellent finish. Sadly it was the same as mains Panna cotta was abit too heavy but was the best tasting of the choices Tiramisu was inedible, it was very telling when the dish came out and went back to the kitchen almost untouched by many The chocolate tarts were also largely untouched, most opting to only eat the ice cream that came with it as it wasnt worth the calories Just so disappointed The floors staff were excellent and very patient and sufficiently attentive. The only saving grace of my meal.
A little disappointed to be honest, last I had Jamies Italian was in London a couple of years ago. I was very excited to see it having visited Brisbane for a short trip. Went on a Monday night, relatively many people although it was a weeknight. The waitresses were with so busy or not attentive they didnt bring me water until I asked for it half way through my meal. No specials menu information was also provided at order until I asked because I caught sight of the board. The lady was kind to give suggestions though as I asked about the difference of the seafood special and the menu seafood pasta. The service was friendly, just not as prompt as I would expect. The most disappointing that result in the rating I gave was the spaghetti was soggy, out of my expectations. The portion, taste and the seafood portion was reasonable but only if they havent over cooked the pasta!
Our last minute booking was received and we arrived on time to be shown to our table towards the back of the restaurant. The fit out is interesting – a small bar area at the front with fluoro lights and chalk boards with pasta recipes, cocktail menu and specials written on them . Near where we sat there was a magnificent chandelier , a bigger bar which was also where chefs prepared the cold entrees and meat and cheese boards. We order drinks and peruse the menu. The new spring menu was full of delicious options so we chose the new additions. First up to have with our Prosecco we have the chargrilled zucchini bruschetta so good! After that we shared a side of Brussel sprouts in a balsamic dressing with red onions. Our mains were chicken in a romesco style sauce – generous size and a baked salmon on a caprese salad base. They were both filling and looked as good as they tasted. We could not resist the sound of the desserts- Eton Mess and brownie with real chocolate sauce, ice cream and caramel popcorn – also both winners. Good value meals served by friendly and efficient staff. They are also doing Christmas parties so go try Jamies youll have a great time.
We had a great lunchtime experience, however it was more like faulty towers than anything else. From getting drinks orders wrong numerous times to being told the octopus ravioli had had a number of complaints in the last few days, so they didnt want to serve it in case we had the same experience. The highlight of the lunch was when we spotted a chicken breast taken off someone elses plate & put on one of our super salads. We took it all in good spirits & our waitress was lovely but we googled whether Jamie Oliver had anything to do with the place because we didnt think hed want his name associated with it – he doesnt, lucky for Jamie! p.s two of us had bugs climbing up our legs – summed up our lunchtime experience, just hope it hadnt climbed out the salads
Great little join in the heart of the Brisbane CBD, its a great venue to a nice laid back evening. Jamies Italian was boasting with life! I was pleasantly greeted by the matre de, who offered seating in the restaurant or the more quiet bar option. I wanted to be where the heart of the establishment was, amongst the chatter of people. Delicious menu, I couldnt go past the Famous Prawn Linguini. It was well presented, tasted nice , but lacked seasoning. Service was okay, it seemed a little busy. I was going to order dessert, I did wait well over five minutes. When I received no attention I did get theirs and asked for the bill. Attentiveness of your staff could be a little better to read the customer, food was ok.
