Been to the New Shanghai place in Sydney a few times so l was super happy to know that there was one in Brisbane CBD as well. Great food and great variety of dumplings. Didn’t have any issues making a large reservation for 14 people. I do think the service can be slightly nicer but l didn’t care too much because l absolutely loved the food. Still so much on the menu to try and l can’t wait to go back.
Came to New Shanghai at 12pm this is just before the huge line starts forming outside every day before the lunch rush. I ordered the Xiao Long Bao and the Hot n Sour Soup. I have never had Hot n Sour Soup but with my love for spice Vietnamese pho, I was hoping it would be somewhat like that. I received a thick soup with those tiny Chinese prawns, the soup tasted very unusual. It was not to my taste and I wouldnt order that again. Shortly after my soup I received a big steam basket of dumplings. This was a dream come true. I demolished these fast and they were beautiful. The liquid oozing into your mouth and then biting into the dumpling … incredible.
Nice food… Friendly but unprofessional service… Very reasonable prices and flavours distinct and fresh. Why is it that good Chinese places do not havegood waiting staff? Or am I stereotyping?
