Please come to Melbourne! Fresh soft pearls , fragrant milk tea and delicious lychee green tea! Came here 2 days in a row and I LOVE LOVE IT! Pls come to MELBOURNE ! Slightly more affordable as well, compared to typical COCO and GONGCHA!
I had the lychee green tea and basic milk tea. Both drinks were really flavourful and the pearls are fresh! $3.99 for a large cup of bubble tea is an absolute steal!
Below average bubble tea. In an area where there are more bubble tea places than 7-11s, you need to stand out in terns of price, quality and service which Pick Cup does not achieve.I went to try Pick Cup shortly after its opening, they had a promotion where every purchase got an entry to a competition where everyone wins a prize. To my ‘luck’ I won second prize which was a $100 gift card which was to the excitement to the staff, and they remarked that I’ll get to try every flavour with the $100 gift card. Then the drama begins, the $100 gift card was not for Pick Cup it was for their gift shop that the owners also own in Spring Hill. THen when I turn up to the gift shop, I find out that in order for me to get $100 worth of things, I need to spend $50 to get $20 off! – basically my ‘prize’ of $100 gift card would only be if I spent $250 in store. That is not a gift card or a prize. I would have preferred the default $3 off your next drink voucher over that prize. A poorly run and explained competition and has put me off Pick Cup for life. There are too many decent bubble tea places in the CBD to be wasting my time and money on this place. Zero stars.
TLDR: Expensive, poor service, and average taste. The passionfruit green tea was fairly sweet (at 0% sugar) and had minimal passionfruit seeds, as well as a very small amount of jelly. This is likely because it was quite late and they had had an opening sale, but it’s disappointing that they chose to compromise on quality instead of just saying that they ran out of jelly. Furthermore, I asked for no ice but still received ice. The rose milk tea was interesting though. It was slightly sweeter than a normal milk tea at 0% sugar, and the “rose” flavour was similar to Turkish delight. The lid of the cup feels strangely insecure even compared to other places that use that cup design. Probably the only reason you would choose to go here over other places is the interesting tea flavours they offer (I’ve only ever seen rose milk tea here and one other place in the CBD).
