This is an oasis in the city and one of the few places where you can meet a friend and talk in a quiet venue with good quality, well presented food. The raspberry scones are legendary and the sponge cakes are amazing. While the prices are slightly higher than some of the chains, there is no comparison in quality, with Room with Roses providing a consistently good product.
My wife and I once ate at Room with Roses regularly. Their prices are now so high that a sandwich costs $21 and soup and a small main (special io the day mind you) cost $40 each today! On top of this, the first course took 40 minutes to arrive with hardly anyone in the restaurant and they don’t even provide a bread roll and butter these days!Wow! How they have gone down hill. We will not be coming back again
Extremely slow service. Having to remind them for water and coffee several times. Waiter did not know items on the menu. Reminded him multiple times with our order.
I had a Father’s day lunch at this well British style restaurant couple months ago. It was so relaxing and enjoyable to have lunch overlooking the hallway of Brisbane Arcade. It reminded me the changes of this arcade for the past 30 years. I loved the idea of serving nostalgic cuisines for the festival and the culinary skill was not bad, however, it took us 40 minutes to have the mains after we finished the entre. The delay really spoiled the day and we had to change the order from 3 courses to 2 courses and rushed for our next appointment. I think the management would have the experience to organise the next festival celebration.
Nicely presented little venue that had some unique spaces to dine. Had the high tea which was great and had a good selection of food. The choice of tread and coffee was also good. Nice for something different.
Waitress met us a front desk on way to another table. Offered us a choice of two tables, no idea why since the place was two thirds empty. Nice window seat. Waitress asked if tap water was OK. Waitress went to the other room in full view of our table. No further attendance after 10-12 minutes. That’s long enough to wait for service, especially at above average prices and when the place is not even close to busy. Service lamentably poor. Left after 10 minutes of having the waitress ignore us. That’s business gone out the door for a long time, people. We won’t be back, you have too much competition. Lift your game.
One place in Brisbane that reminds me of London! It’s makes me feel like I am in UK, the set up is unique, surrounded by fresh roses and beautiful crockery. It’s very British like, I always get excited to go there for their signature raspberry scone with chantilly cream. The scone is $10 but it’s totally worth it. Definitely worth trying!
