Came here for dinner on a Saturday night. Ambience and decor were lovely and we were seated at a more traditional style Japanese table which added to the experience. There were so many things we were keen to try on the menu and we almost went for the chefs omakase option, but in the end chose a selection of dishes to share. Started with endamame, the kingfish double crunch sushi roll (ok), hiramasa kingfish (lovely), popcorn shrimp (tasty), Nasu miso eggplant (nice), agedashi tofu (not a big fan of this particular dish), miso caramelised toothfish (very nice, but ridiculously small for the almost $60 price tag). Finished off with the miso creme brle which was ok but nothing special. This restaurant is very reminiscent of Nobu, although the food quality/flavour for me is not on the same level. Service was professional (other than the waitress at the end who took our cash payment and asked me if I wanted my $10 change back which I thought was very forward & borderline rude considering we had already paid $250 for the meal). Portion sizes are a lot of times minuscule (the toothfish really was a bit of a joke at how small the piece was for the price), but if you can look past this, Sake is a nice restaurant to come for a special occasion.
Fresh food, great flavours and diverse menu. Lots of great sake & the set menus were plenty of food. Service was not amazing to be honest – had to wait about 15 minutes before I could get someones attention. Quite expensive but with it for location + food.
We ordered the Omakase Degustation Menu and were so happy we did! Creative Modern Japanese Cuisine, a kind of menu that kept you guessing and surprised you when you actually took a bite. Beautifully setup, comfortable atmosphere. The staff and restaurant had the perfect mix of casual and sophistication that’s expected in a modern fine dining experience. Pricewise, average for a fine dining Degustation Menu, allthough I found the wine pairing to be unnecessarily expensive. Also, my Coedo Beniaka Craft Beer was a lot more expensive than back home in Melbourne.Much impressed and will be glad to recommend this restaurant as a must do for a Brisbane visit. Well done and see you again soon!
