Located in a very busy area in Broadbeach, we found George’s based on our host’s recommendation. Well, it lived up to the reputation. We tried salt and pepper squid for our entree. The squid was fresh, cooked to perfection, lightly seasoned with salt and pepper. It was a pleasant entree. For main, we ordered the seafood platter, it was pretty big for one person with three king prawns, 3 halves bugs, grilled baby octopus, butter rice and green salad. The seafood was all fresh, juicy, cooked to perfection. My favourite was the baby octopus which was grilled with lime leave, lemon juice and spice. It went really well with the butter rice which by itself was a bit bland but made perfect sense eating with the seasoned octopus. Strongly recommend this platter as it was a good value for money. Only$49.5. I found the price here was reasonable compared to other places but the food was definitely a step up from others we have tried.
A great restaurant. Friendly fast service. Comfortable chairs. Plenty of room. Big menu and hearty portions of tasty food served quickly and hot. Fresh seafood all locally sourced. Gorgeous steaks. Well priced drinks. Fantastic coffee. A real proper restaurant. None of this wilted tofu served on kale powder in a glass spoon rubbish. Come here if your hungry and love hearty Mediterranean cuisine. We had veal Mediterranean. Grilled snapper. Garlic bread ( which was crusty baguette with plenty of garlic. Not tip top bread) and a 300gram fillet which was very tender.
Day two in goldcoast, my partner wanted us to having dinner at george’s. First impression about the place, I dont like the interior design, dim light with a boring table setup, need a touch of art. For the food, rib eye grass feed 400gr was overcooked, instead of medium rare the chef cooked medium well, mushroom sauce out of expectation. Slow cook roast pork was fair, nothing special, the taste just plain, and puree sauce is not a good pairing of it. For chicken alla funghi wasn’t great, cream sauce too salty, too much garlic, and there’s something just not right but dont know what it is. Service just fair, our waiter is pretty friendly and fast
