Small restaurant Can be busy as it’s located in the casinoif you’re at the casino and feel like asian these guys are open a bit late (but not too late)and no booking is required They are cautious about food allergies It is kind of a self service placeFood is ok Cheaper than Imperial (also at the casino) and I enjoy this place more
Take a seat, choose your food, then order at the counter. You get a buzzer and fetch your food when it’s ready. This outlet is within the casino complex, so it doesn’t feel like an intimate, cosy restaurant.Food was very good on the whole. Didn’t like the vegetarian spring rolls much, they were a bit bland.Enjoyed the hokkien noodle dish and loved the deep fried pork fillet entree, that was fabulous.Had a couple of other little dishes which were nice. All in all, a positive experience.
Had a quick meal here after some Blackjack and some drinks! Ordered two wines, the mushroom dumplings, the beef, some greens and some xiao long bao. The prices are quite expensive considering serves of 3 dumplings are $8 and usual dumplings places give you a whole plate for about $10. Total bill was $50. Dumpling quality is average and I don’t like the method of having to pick up food yourself at the counter. The Chinese greens in oyester sauce was just just ine type of vegetable! Could have been a better experience but not too bad if you want something on the go on a night out at The Star.
The steamed rice was short grain which i wasn’t used to and also dry – this naturally ruined anything else that was to come as rice for me is the foundation on which the rest of the meal is based. The fried rice naturally translated into a dry fried rice which crumbled in your mouth although the flavour was not compromised. At this point I might also add that the fact that I start this review commenting about rice may give you an indication that I am a bit biased when it comes to Chinese food. The Kung Pao chicken had a good amount of spice (some may find it too spicy) and had good flavour, although I felt that it was cheapened by putting too many peanuts. The prawn dumplings had too much doughTo be fair, I didn’t come to the casino for great food hence the 3 star, all else being equal I probably would not have been so lenient, but having a Smirnoff ice with Chinese food is definitely a bonus
Dashes takes about 15-20 mins to prepare on a busy night but the food is surprisingly delicious and almost made to perfection. If dining in a group of 4-6 I would defiantly suggest to order a extra dish to share as one per person might not suffice.
