Drove along the Oxford Street, I was day-dreaming and had no idea of what type of cafe should I go for exploration. Suddenly, my gaze was caught by those people sitting at the front of this bakery; so gave it a go. Well, it happened again that I could not decide what to choose from so many varieties of cakes and breads. Eventually, I just ordered a sweet bun and a cup of coffee and joined the other people sitting at the front of the bakery and enjoyed my light brekkie. Well, the Di Bella seemed under the par and the bun was just average. However, sometimes, it was not too bad to have a change.
The Meatballs family popped into Oxford Street Bakery Cafe for a mid-morning snack before the movies. The highlight was the Salted Caramel and Pecan Slice ($4.80), which was fantastic. This was delicious, but the serving was quite large and a bit too rich to finish all at once. The rest was wrapped up and will be enjoyed later. This was deserving of a 4.5.The Raspberry French Toast ($4.50) was very good, but would have been better warm. The quality of the brioche was evident – 3.5.The flat white coffee was served incredibly hot and needed several minutes to cool before it could be sipped. Good flavor – 3.5.The donut hole was average – 3.Sadly, the service was a bit abrupt and they ignored the fact that I requested to dine in.
Finally, a decent steak and mushroom pie!! I normally venture to the outpost cafe in cunungra for the best pies in qld, however i was pleasantly suprised by the delicious steak and mushroom pie from this bakery! The pastry was perfect, not too hard not too soft and the filling actually had steak! Not mince, steak!!! The flavour was superb! I know it seems odd writing a review about a pie, but i had to share my awesome experience!
