Amazing coffee and eggs Bennie in a cozy and nice place. Love it! Every time I come back here it’s a bliss. Staff in nice and friendly, price is reasonable for the high quality.

I’ve always found the food here to be delicious. Mind you I’ve only ever ordered from the display because it just looks so inviting I forget about the menu. Great vegetarian options, and when we asked for vegan alterations the girls were more than happy to help. The cafe itself is sweet, with country-style decor. It would be a great little place to take your mum or nan out for lunch or afternoon tea. Well, that’s who it reminds me of anyway. This time round we ordered the veggie wrap and the vegan coconut Thai pie with side salad. The wrap is my favourite, really delicious – especially toasted. The pie was also full of flavour. All in all, a lovely lunch stop over on our way through west Burleigh.

I stopped going here a few years ago after finding that they compromised practicality while trying to be vintage and providing cutlery that was impossible to use – the kind where the handle looks like ivory and the blade is not serrated and bends when you try to cut with it. There were a few other odd things I can’t remember now, but today I bought a little muffin that seemed so stale you had to tear it apart with your teeth, so wanting to give them a second chance (and it looking like they have new owners) I (politely) let the guy know at the counter that they were really stale. The guy making coffee piped up and told me that I could heat it up if I wanted to (what little of it there was left, since it was only a little one) and that it’s just the flour, they were baked that day. I felt embarrassed and silly for even thinking that they might like to know one of their customers wasn’t happy with something they were selling. And when I tried to explain that I was only providing feedback I only dug my hole deeper. Apparently they were gluten free (silly me) and that is why. Gluten free or not I had no idea, and knowing they need heating up why wasn’t I offered? It’s only a stupid little muffin but friendly service and no excuses goes a long way. Not a look that says go away I’m busy. I work in customer service and its just not how you keep your customers. Just a simple thanks for letting us know was all. I won’t be back to give them a third chance. And I get the impression they don’t give 2 hoots about your feedback on here or in their shop.
