John and Allison Boswell have been in love with coffee all their adult lives. They met in a coffee shop, proposed in a coffee shop… so it was natural that, when Premiato Coffee became available, they would buy the roastery to pursue their passion. Eight years later, they’ve added a restaurant to their holdings, extending their passion to the food industry with the purchase of Zullaz Bar & Eating Place in Burleigh.
Three of us came here for nibbles and drinks on a Saturday night for live music. Unfortunately they were closing up early around 9:30 when I thought we’d have another hour. We had to quickly choose something from the menu to eat. I didn’t think the food was very good but I did enjoy the roti.
The lamb cutlets were delectable, the rest of the meal was minimal and not fulfilling. The lentil sauce was scarce and mixed with a few green veggies beneath the cutlets which made for a boring accompaniment to the delicious lamb. The Morrocan meatball sauce and cous cous sounds like a far greater mix for the cutlets in hindsight. Alas, it shall not be. Service was great, very attentive and Saturday night music was excellent. We were nearly overcharged for two drinks we didn’t have but that was easily avoided. There was an enormous platter of what looked like chicken wings which emerged from the kitchen which I did not see on the menu, and I would have paid dearly for such a good option.
So disappointed tonight . The highlight of our meal was the music. A shocking long wait on food only to be told our dish was not available and then our original waitress didn’t even know !!! Feeling finally our food came out Seriously over cooked . Rubber broccoli and zucchini. I honestly felt like I was eating an English pot noodle
