No. Just no. All I can say is what a shame.How can such a prime spot with a beautiful little view be turned into something that even Gordon Ramsay would have difficulty turning around in an episode of kitchen nightmares? Arrived to endless dirty and uncleared tables and wait staff wandering around aimlessly. Cleared our own table, was handed a dirty water logged menu, which was a mish-mash of every cuisine known to man. So confusing. Pick something and do it well, keep it simple. Don’t offer 100 different half baked ideas and expect people to pay for such slop. Tasteless, boring food that someone without a palate or an ounce of pride or passion has flopped onto a plate. What a shame. This place is in a location that has the potential to be something amazing, and sadly attracts unsuspecting passers by as a result … It’s just criminal that anyone could think of charging people for such rubbish.
Never again. That was one of the worst meals I ever had! My other half ordered the $30 reef and beef special and it wouldn’t even of fed my 7 year old. I ordered the peri chicken burger, the chicken was way to small for the bun and the bun just fell apart and my chips wern’t cooked properly. I do Not recommend this restaurant!
As regular patrons of Mondos, and used to a high standard of food/service. This unfortunately was not presented at the Christmas luncheon. Service was lacklustre at best and value for money sorely lacking. For the price of 5 tickets the menu was very monastic. The very limited platter of miniscule seafood was extremely disappointing. First and last Christmas lunch.
Diana. Return visit to Mondo to see if things were still the same since our last visit early in the year. When I rang to book there was some confusion as to whether or not they were able to fit us in ( was Xmas after all!) They said no seats available outside in our favorite spot, but were welcome to come inside. I enjoyed the same vegetarian sri lankan curry & it was as always excellent with sambal on the side. My partner had the ribs which he did not enjoy at all-way too sweet. The meat was tender but he just didn’t enjoy it -wrong chioce evidently. .19 Feb, 2014Diana. Been spending a lot of time recently here at Mondo again, as we were lucky enough to be staying at The Hilton. Pleased to say the ambiance is back (we got our fave position right next to the water) & the service is outstanding. The staff are more than helpful & go out of their way to make you feel welcome, with big friendly smiles & a genuine caring attitude. In particular I would like to thank Kerrod who was the highlight of our day with his charming ambiance. Also the chef who went out of his way to make sure our meal was exactly what we wanted. They still do a great sri lankan style veg curry which I am tending to eat a lot of, it is just yum! Not to forget also a great dessert gateaux named Mortal Sin, just divine & definately mortally sinful!!04 May, 2013Diana. A few changes have happened at Mondo since our last visit, mainly that the lawn that used to run from the restaurant to the waters edge has been replaced with cement. Takes away a little of the previous ambience unfortunately. However we still enjoyed our food which were both curries. Was a tad disapointed to be told they do not use fresh chillies in the sri lankan veg curry (or probably any of their curries come to that)18 Apr, 2013Diana. This restaurant has an amazing location and is ideal for families with children. The food unfortunately does not compliment the amazing views/atmosphere. We have been there a few times now as it is such a good place for children but all meals have lacked flavour, finesse and presentation and the wait on food was ridiculous. So disappointing that the menu hasn’t changed in such a long time. Time for a revamp Mondos!!!
Had lunch there today arrived in windy conditions and sat inside. We were ignored by all staff and ordered meals at the bar and had a anti pasto platter first that was straight out of jars! The Asian latter was from the freezer to the deep fryer and something you would get at the footy club on a Saturday for free! Not what you expect from a Hilton hotel . Seafood was very average and when trying to order drinks you could not be heard for the music and when repeated several tea the bar man gets surly! . We are all locals and will not be back. Seriously Hilton get your act together!
Review of Dinner. My first experience of Mondo’s was very disappointing. I ordered a rib eye steak but it was tough and inedible and it did not look like rib eye fillet that I had eaten before. No staff came near our table to see if the meals were fine and eventually I took my uneaten meal back to the counter where I had ordered. There was no apology and no offer to replace my meal. I was told that I should have complained earlier – I am not sure what difference that would have made! I will not be going back to Mondo’s and could not recommend it.
