Cairns has a number of Indian restaurants within the close radius of famous Night market. Tandoori Oven is located right next another Indian restaurant Marinades, and is a great place for having dinner for families. The restaurant was fully packed with local and international travellers. The food was okay and there wasnt anything distinct. Overall, lively place for families to dine and have Indian food.

Excellent quality food at a great location. Visited twice !!Loved the naan, daal tadka and matar methi the most. Ambience and lights are very soothing and felt at home in India. We were a big group on vacation hence, i felt that the seatings were conjusted and it was difficult to move around with the heavy plates. A bit more space can be provided for a comfortable experience. Bcz of the rush, staff also looked stressed which should not have been the case. So all my marks to the chef…

Quality place for local Indian cuisine. For vegetarians like us it’s a boon in far away Cairns. We tried paneer makhani, aloo zeera and chana masala along with Gobhi paranthas, butter naan and garlic naan. all of them as good as what you get back home. Half a star deducted for their ability to handle a full house. However full credit to the chef for maintaining quality despite large crowds.

Our search for a great Indian restaurant in Cairns, Australia ended with Tandoori Oven! While strolling in the streets of Cairns for good Indian food, we saw this place and entered in it with doubts in our mind. But thankfully we gave it a try as the food was really nice. The surroundings and crowd were good and most of the people were sitting there were also Indians. We also noticed many non-Indians relishing the flavours of Indian cuisine. The best part was listening the typical bollywood songs which made us really nostalgic. We talked to their Indian staff in our own language. It made our day after talking to them for so long that too in Hindi. We also had a word with the restaurant’s owner who is an Indian and started this venture long back with an aim to make Indian food popular in Cairns and also to serve Indian food to Indian tourists or Indians who live there. We tried both veg and non-veg dishes. Their Onion Rings (Bhajia) was my favourite. Even their Tandoori Chicken (Murga) was also delicious. They made it more spicy and added extra masala on our request. I recommend them as a great place to have Indian cuisine in Cairns, Australia.

Very good option for lunch if you want to have North Indian food. Ordered thali and everything was good both vegetarian and non vegetarian options.

We had dinner here tonight, the smell of tandoori made us walk in. We ordered the paneer tikka masala along with tandoori rotis and garlic naan. The staff were really helpful, happy to make an entree as a main, also confirmed about how much butter would we like on our bread. The food itself was great, loved the paneer tikka masala. The sauce was just excellent, good portion size and good prices too. The only tiny issue I had was the time they took to prepare the food. It took them a good 30 minutes. They were waiting for a big group of over 40 people, so I guess busy with that.

The restaurant was not crowded and was nice. Quantities were substantial but taste of food was ok. The biriyani could have tasted better. Service could be better.
