Have always loved Charlie’s, it was always a must do whenever visiting Cairns, sadly, after tonight’s experience I won’t ever be back and I certainly will not be recommending you to ANYONE!! Non-existent table service. Uninterested wait staff who had to be prompted to clear tables. Frozen prawns of questionable edibility.Empty food trays in the buffet (in stark contrast the American groups private function was extremely well catered for).Individual complaints from a number of dining parties fell on the deaf ears of your staff, in fact I got the distinct impression they just didn’t care. Only when a group of about 6 individual dining parties approached management together was there any attempt to rectify the situation with you refunding each diner half their bill, quite a pathetic gesture considering just how piss poor the food, service and overall staff/management attitudes were!!

Average basic food
Just terrible!. Unbelievable!! I really wish we hadnt have come here! Just a waste, so far from the main town and not worth a cent. Rude staff, rude manager. AVOID!
Food was ok, wouldn’t call it a seafood buffet, just prawns, mussels and calamari and fish. No free soft drink or drink machine which is expected at all you can eat restaurants these days. Drinks service was terrible! Still waiting for 1 pure blonde and 1 coke, been waiting 20 mins, sitting here watching wait staff chat while drinks orders just pile up. Was hoping to finish my beer before I got desert!! I’m now sitting here watching our drinks sit on the tray at the bar for the last five mins while the waitstaff continue to chat. This is ridiculous, would not recommend this place at all. I’m with the other voters, should have listened to the reviews.
Blast from the Past. I remember the Charlie’s of years gone by… huge buffet, awesome fresh seafood wtih lots of other options… but this weekend past was very different. A signifcantly smaller selection of dishes lacked flavour and interest – as one person in our party put it, everything kinda tasted the same. People enjoyed the prawns, but not so the oysters and mussels. Good thing dessert was a hit – the berry cheesecake and mini caramel tarts saved the night for me.
