Lovely ladies at the counter. So friendly. Coffee is nice and always hot. Croissants are lovely albeit not as flaky as they should be and cupcakes are yummy despite being dry. Sometimes sweets have smells of savouries and it’s a bit odd. Overall not too bad of a place.
Had tried its sibling at Cannon Hill and wonder how is the standard in Carindale. Drove there this morning and found the venue is a lot smaller than the one at Cannon Hill. Ordered a Steak & Mushroom Pie and a Take-Away Flat white. The pie is a let down with plastic pastry and bland ingredients, particularly the minced beef. Surprisingly, the coffee is not bad as expected….. However, it is not worth for a trip.
We’ve eaten here a few times as it’s our local bakery and wanted to give it a fair chance. I’ve had 3 pies which were average at best, and the most recent one (chunky steak) had a fair bit of gristle and fat in it, and not much steak really. My partner has been even less fortunate with her purchases (pies/spinach and fetta roll etc), which were pretty poor quality (see her review for details). Their vanilla slice is pretty good but what use is a bakery that can’t make a decent pie? We’ll be going further afield from now on.
So bad. So so so bad. I’ve had three pies and sausage rolls from here. All of them were tasteless and dried out. The last time I went in I was handed a roll that was obviously dried out and burnt in some places. She happily replaced it for me but it’s replacement was not much better. I haven’t tried their bread or other baked goods, but based on their hot pastry items I will not go there again.
Great customer service!. The staff here are always friendly, I used to get coffee opposite the bakery however I didn’t like the service I received which in turn lead me to crusty devil. I’m glad because the coffee is decent, great price & love how fresh all the food is. Best little bakery around.
Great custard tart, okay bread but don’t bother with the coffee.
Oh dear. Just YUCK!. Coffee and scrolls vey ordinary…and just too damn pricey. I’ll be back to the Flour Monkey quick smart! Staff were OK.
