Bootlegger has an awesome vibe to it. An American style restaurant specialising in the own smoked meats. Upon visiting, we were greeted by the friendly staff. The drinks menu was extensive and these were served quickly. We decided to try the honey popcorn shrimp. The name says it all, little pockets of sweet tempura shrimp. Although nice, I dont think its worth $18. I think this should be replaced with some of Uncle Sams popcorn chicken. Maybe a new menu idea? I ordered some sliders with cheesy fries for a main. The most flavoursome was uncle sams chicken slider. The breaded chicken was cooked to perfection and had a beautiful flavour, the sauces served on the burger really lifted the combination. The beef slider was average, the beef patty was a little firm and nothing really stood out about it. The burnt ends slider was quite nice although when I think of the title I would expect crispy, charred brisket. Unfortunately this wasnt the case. The flavour however was still quite tasty. Lastly the cheese on the fries, this is $3 extra for an average under flavoured cheese sauce. It needs more punch it needs to be a full flavoured yellow cheesy American sauce. Overall the experience was pleasant however I think the flavours of food could be executed a little better.

Went in to try the 14 hr beef brisket. Quantity was reasonable. Chips was crunchy and well seasoned. The coleslaw was quite flat, it definitely needed more of a creamy dressing to counter the salty brisket. Now onto the beef brisket. Unfortunately … it did not live up to expectation. Somehow it was not cooked evenly, one side was tender while the other was quite tough. Could not taste the bark as they had smothered their bbq sauce over it before serving and it was a bit dry. It felt like after cooking it had been left on the bench to dry up as well. Hope they work on it. I gave the place 3 stars as service was great, environment was great and the boss seem to be keen to improve his bbq process. They could do with more sauces thought. Only bbq sauce was served. also the brisket could be cut in thinner slices.

Went on Friday night With family. Barramundi was a bit small for the price and one steak meal was very tough. The Parma and the cheeseburger were good. Ordered drinks which arrived so ordered 2 more cokes. These didn’t arrive so ordered from the same lady again. These didn’t arrive either. Decided to leave and checked with the waiter if we were only charged for the 2 cokes and he said yes. Got to the car and checked the receipt and realised we were charged for 4 cokes instead of 2. Very expensive for a shopping centre. Will not go too often and will check receipt next time to make sure we are charged right. Service was not good at all..

A wonderland of smokey delights. Following a raft of American style eateries in Brisbane I sampled the offerings at Bootlegger today at the invitation of Espresso & Macha. Disclosure: we dined at the leisure of the manager. Ambience: a little hipster – cool woody industrial. Menu: extensive. Burgers, wings, beef rib, beef brisket, pork ribs. Service: quite snappy and V friendly. The foods have a delightful smokey flavour. Some reliance on the tangy/creamy accompanying sauces. Chips were crunchy with a lightly spiced seasoning. Verdict: would go again, value for money at normal price seems fair.

I so wanted this place to be good but unfortunately there are no Gluten Free options on the menu. If there is a single celiac in your family or group, this place is not an option. Given that Australia has the highest per Capita rate of Celiac disease in the world, thats a little short sited.Bettys and Grilld are almost next door and have multiple options that are Gf or GFO. Try there instead.

Went to bootlegger on a Wednesday night for dinner. After waiting for 5 minutes we were finally greeted and handed menus to then be told that the brisket, pulled pork and parmys were unavailable. We decided to sit down anyway and when we ordered we told there was also no chicken wings (probably a good thing because $35 for 12 wings is a bit steep). We ordered the fried chicken pieces and a burger with fries. Both were extremely disappointing. Neither were seasoned at all and one of the pieces of chicken was about the same size as a nugget. This is the quality I would expect in a primary school tuckshop. Not impressed at all and feel ripped off. Would not return or recommend
