I recently attended a family lunch at HQ Cafe and decided to order the fresh fish of the day, which happened to be salmon. Overall, this was a pleasant dish – the salmon skin was perfectly crisp and the accompanying vegetables were prepared well. However, the salmon skin was perhaps a little too salty and there were no standout flavours in the dish. It was also quite pricey at just over $30 although this is often standard with salmon. The outdoor area of the caf has a great atmosphere and the wait staff were very patient with a difficult member of our our party. In summary, whilst the HQ Cafe offers a variety of modern Australian food, the buffet across the hall has arguably tastier offerings that are better value for money.
