I’ve been here a few times with the family. The service is always very comprehensive and the food is lovely and authentic. There isn’t a lot of choice on the menu but everything I’ve eaten here has been good.
This is a little Italian gem on the north side camouflaged by the common-suburban-takeaway-restaurant look on the outside. I was shocked when I first look at the menu as it is very expensive for a suburban restaurant, however, the elegant decor, huge serving tasty homemade pasta & great attentive service really match the price tag! Having said that, it is quite weird that a bottle of reasonably good quality wine there is actually cheaper than a mains.
If you have a week to wait for your meals then this is the place for you!!!!. Food was lovely but OMG, we had to wait for hours for our meal. Lunch turned into dinner!! Service was almost non existent. I will certainly NOT be eating here again.
Nothing good here. 7.30pm booking, order taken 8.20pmFood overwhelminigly saltyVeal so tough it was inedible, so leftwine brought to table and poured into glasses with out any checking – it was incorrect and much more than the bottle orderedonly 2 courses both salty and inedible ordered, 1 bottle of white wine, 1 glass of red wine total bill came to over $100.00 per person. Any fast food restaurant. you will get better service and food Very bad food, very poor service just don’t bother, go to any pizza place if you need Italian, that has to be better than we got
A great experience. Viale Canova is just one of those places. The service is excellent, led by an extravagant restaurant manager who always has time to stop what he’s doing and have a chat with you. The food is divine and is home to my all-time favourite Italian dish (baby clam aglio olio – unfortunately they don’t have this on the menu every night). Finally, the ambiance is wonderful and lends itself perfectly to somewhere you could eat and drink away the night. It is my wife and I’s favourite dine-in restaurant and somewhere we have spent many milestones and never left disappointed. *****/*****
Authentic Italian. I love going to Viale Canova. It’s a little bit like being in Italy (yes, even with the sometimes haphazard service, all the more creating that authentic Italian experience). The menu is extensive & extremely flavoursome and can cater for dietary requirements too which is sometimes an issue when it comes to proper Italian. This place has stood the test of time because it delivers. Deliciouso!
Food was enjoyable – pity about the service. The food was more than ample in quantity and the flavours were exceptional. The big disappointment was the time it took to receive our food. Both the entree and main courses took forever. When you begin to start looking at your watch your body clock is telling you that you have waited far too long ….and we did! This was exacerbated by the fact that when the main courses finally arrived only 3 out of 4 were served, leaving one person waiting even longer. The problem is never really the main issue, rather how it is handled and the maitre d did an appalling job of this. For a restaurant where the prices are at the high end, an apology was essential followed by a complementary coffee. That was not to be. There is so much competition out there that restaurants need to always be going the extra mile and making their clients feel special…….we felt anything but special.
