This has been my go to place in Cleveland for takeaway fish and chips for sometime now. It may have it’s faults but it runs rings around it’s competitors in the area in my opinion. So my standard order is crumbed cod, calamari, and beer battered chips with a tub of aioli. I have never been able to fault what I have received. The fish is beautiful and white and thick, not like some other places where it is tasteless and looks so thin like the fillet has been sliced in half! The beer battered chips are amazing and worth the bit extra. Overall I think the pricing for most items is standard and the dune in meal deals look to be of a good size from what I have seen. I am yet to try one though.I have read on here several complaints about the staff. I personally haven’t experienced anything negative but have also had no reason to date to return to them with an issue. I wouldn’t say the service is great – it’s just mediocre which sadly is what we can usually expect these days it would seem.On the downside:1) Last night I wanted to order a burger for each of my children but at $13.95 I found the price exorbitant. On the menu it came with chips which I didn’t want. On asking I was told that the price would be the same with or without chips. WHY? I really can’t understand why? It’s not an order from their meal deals so why should I expect to pay the same without chips. Why can there or be some flexibility? I find this unreasonable and just plain greedy.2) Parking. Samson’s is located at Raby Bay Harbour within a dining precinct but it is also surrounded by apartments making competition for parking tough. It doesn’t matter what time of the day you go there it is near impossible to get a park. At night – you’ve got buckleys of snaring a spot. Even the underground parking is full. It really is off putting when you want to grab a quick takeaway and you have to drive around for a park, or else park further afield and walk back.
i often go here for dinner and i order the same thingthe chicken burger (comes with chips)and i am never disappointed chicken is always tender and the burger is well put together with not too much sauce or lettuce and enough of the other salad filling with options to add others for $1good variety of drinks in the drink fridges and a BYO option for drinks is great as they don’t serve alcoholthe only negative thing is that you have to pay extra($2) for sauce for your chips this should be includedalso, the restaurant lacks decoration and the shouting when ur order is ready is quite irritating they need a new method of bringing your food toyou and the salad is barely a salad its a bit of tomato, some onion no dressing and a lot of lettucethe staff are ok in service and the food can take anywhere for 10-1 hour to get given to you depending on how busy they arei would still go there oftenbut would never take anyone there i barely call it a restaurant and would take them somewherenicer where there is no shouting
