If you’re anything like myself and love a good smashes avo, then this place is a MUST. I don’t eat egg, so the waitress happily swapped the egg for me for hash browns instead. This was by far the BEST smashed avo I have ever found. The surroundings and decor are so nice and the food is lovely. Very generous serving sizes. Only downside was that being from Melbourne, Port Douglas is VERY hot and there were no fans around us or air conditioning that we could tell of, as it was an open setting. We were dripping in sweat which was not the most pleasant experience.
Food was not good, rubbery pasta. Service was terrible, mixed up entrees, yet still tried to charge us for them, ran out of wine we ordered which was replaced by cheaper bottle but after leaving have realised we were still charged for the more expensive bottle. Would not recommend this place.
Amateurs, This place needs a lots of improvement. The Sauv Blanc on the menu was a West Australian Margaret River wine (Vasse felix) sold as a NSW South Wales wine. Simple lovely pizza, loaded with grease. Carbonara Pasta had tasteless bacon instead of pancetta. Bar area was finished well, however food and service needs a lot of improvement to meet up to simple standards.
My Italian Baby is a solid 4 stars. It had big Italian shoes to fill with the demise of local favourite Bucci. They do 2 for 1 pizza and pastas on Mondays. Nowhere near Bucci for quality Italian but the pizza and pastas are pretty good. Good for easy and reasonably priced pizza and pasta. No need for booking is a big bonus in our eyes.
Came here for $9 parma night – staff were friendly and helpful, drinks were good, $9 parma doesn’t include any sides so it was quickly more than that with a little side salad and the parma was dry and overcooked. 3 stars are for the service and the chili mango margarita.
