QT hotel, as a brand has a great name, exceptional food, service and atmosphere and I’ve experienced this several time in their property in Melbourne, so when I found out they had a hotel in Port Douglas it was an easy decision to make when looking for a place to have breakfast.The resort itself was a typical North Queensland hotel, open and surrounded by tropical gardens, white wash walls and a lagoon style pool. The restaurant had a modem rustic charm and had the appeal you would expect from a high end hotel cafe. We approached the counter paid for our breakfast and found a table. The buffet from afar looked inviting, with two chefs busily cooking in an open kitchen. As we eagerly walked up to the buffet it was starting to come apparent that was not the best choice for breakfast. Firstly the fruit had tiny fruit flies covering them, so fruit was out. The hot food, first off the grilled tomatoes over cooked and cold. The mushrooms cold, the bacon undercooked and cold, the bake beans (out of a tin) cold. The only saving grace was the poached eggs, perfectly cooked and hot. To be honest even if the dishes hadn’t been cold there was no imagination in the menu, very stock standard that you’d expect on a country HWY 2 star motel.

For a buffet it is great. The seafood is fresh and delicious. The pulled pork was delicious as was the rice. Everything I tried was great and I would go back there again.
We don’t rely on eating here every day when we stay but nothing bad to say either. For hotel / buffet food it’s pretty good and the cocktails are fantastic :). We love staying in the martini tower. We hope QT keeps the place fresh & their standards as high as ours so we can keep returning.
Service was great. But food was terrible and nothing like the ingredients promised on the menu, no buffalo were harmed during the making of the so called buffalo mozzarella pizza. Dough was chewy and the rest of the food was bad as well.
