First time checking out the East Brisbane branch of Lemak because of their recent anniversary special of no. 20 mee goreng with signature fried chicken, $3!! (normally $10).Wifey went with a no. 10 dry noodles curry chicken, $11.90. And for the boy, roti canai with curry sauce, $5.90.The food here is with that from the original 8 Steet Garden City branch which wins in the proximity and convenience stakes for me, so realistically I don’t see myself coming to this branch all that often. But it’s a great option for those who find this location better, for when those #malaysianfood cravings hit!
Ordered the Mee Goreng and Nasi Lemak via ubereats. 3 Stars for a well fried succulent chicken, although could use more flavour and the Mee Goreng was good as well. The nasi lemak was a big let down. I couldn’t taste the sambal and the curry poured over the rice also lack any depth. The biggest let down – the rice. Did not live up to it’s name, fatty rice. No flavour of coconut milk and pandan. Just plain rice.
Went to Lemak for lunch. Ordered the Nasi Goreng, Fried Chicken Burger, etc. They were all great. Big portions and reasonable pricing. Definitely my favourite place for Malaysian food.
Great fried chicken. Their signature dish is delicious with the chicken the star. The sambal is good (but not spicy enough). The portions are large. Even when you buy the two individual chicken its filling. The other dishes aren’t bad but not as good. The curry is thick and aromatic but the rendang is a bit chewy. Have the fried chicken or burgers and you’ll be satisfied.
The appealing of chicken satay skewers and Nasi goreng with chicken curry served in front of me stimulated my appetite. The satay sauce was so yummy that I wished it could be topped up a bit more as the chicken was just a little bit dry. Liked a little condiment at the bottom of the bowl-diced cucumber, fresh onion and crush peanut. My main was huge; the fried rice was cooked to perfection and tasted just right while the curry was a little too salty. The sambal sauce on the half boiled egg was flavoursome and made such a versatile accompaniment. Delish food, generous portions, good value and efficient service-well done, Lemak! Just a little struggled with street parking:P
