Interesting mix, this restaurant. The front bar (Tapestry) is a great little spot to have a sneaky weekday lunch, or lazy weekend meal, with some amazing small plate choices, and probably the best burgers in Toowoomba (certainly the best value). After eating at the Tapestry bar on multiple occasions, I did not expect my first dining experience in the main restaurant to be so underwhelming.Perhaps it is my fault for being a bit of a fussy eater, but on both my entree and main meal, an ingredient I asked to be left off wasn’t, and this lead to long waits for returned meals while my dining partner had to make the choice between eating without me, or eating cold food.I also found it difficult to get continued drinks service. It was not a busy night during service. The quality of the food is fine, though in the higher price bracket for pub style cuisine.
Great food and clean kitchen. Good size serving and good value for money. Quality is good and service is good. It’s consistent and one of Toowoombas nicer venues.
Was quite surprised when hearing (after asking if there was a back section with more seating) that there was a massive dining area out the back of the street frontage bar area! The food quality was impressive.. I had the salmon (was cooked perfectly and meal well designed) and my lovely partner enjoyed the al dente pasta (also cooked very well and surprising). We were impressed considering there’s not much else in Toowoomba yet and we are actually from Melbourne. The restaurant should really consider advertising better and ensure its known about from the front bar section and street frontage.
A bar not like may others. Fitzy’s brings bar class to a whole new level, in terms of food anyways. There aren’t much bars that I know of that serves STICKY BEEF SHORT RIBS chilli, mint, coriander, sesame $18.0, CONFIT DUCK BREAST finished in the oven, over steamed pumpkin, shitake mushrooms, braised leek & shallot, served with plum & vanilla bean jus $34.0 or SLOW COOKED LAMB SHANK with rich gravy, roast vegetables & creamed potato $25.0. At least not the pubs that I’ve visited in Melbourne let alone in Toowoomba but I must say, Melbourne bars…you need to step up your game. We even had a bottle of red (Shiraz) from Adelaide Hills $35.0 along with a dessert CHEESE PLATE of soft, hard and blue, with fruit paste, nut and fruit medley & crackers $18.0 which went down a treat.Staff were so helpful, attentive and were not shy to have a quick chat to make us feel welcome. Really added to the atmosphere.Decor of the place is just like every other bar with its barn-esque, gothic like cathedral ceilings type place which enticed many of the locals.in the area to come in and have a feed.Fitzy’s was a great place to have a meal and would definitely visit it again. Till next time, this is Our Foodie Find!
Yum! Yum! Yum! Amazing burgers and chips! We had the Parmi Burger and the Osbourne Burger. The Parmi tasted as it should and the Osbourne was out of the world! Service was friendly and kind. Next time you are in Toowoomba give this place. Go!
I come here for fitzys Lamb shanks and roasted root vegetables dish. The Etons mess and a glass of wine added so much charm to the evening as well. The meals were perfect and service was prompt for a busy venue. It can get quite noisy as the venue is very large but the service is always professional. stretchandlearn.wordpress.com
We have lunch at Tapestry occasionally (front bar). Went today and they have revamped the menu, simplified but more variety (now mainly burgers or tacos but maybe 6 or 7 flavours/meats for each) plus steak, chips, and a variety of small plates like spring rolls and dumplings. Lots of beers on tap, I notice that they still have the limited and disappointing cocktail menu they had when they opened though.
