It’s my first time to try filipinos cuisine. Nice staff. He was patient to answer all my questions about the food. I decided to buy beef and their sweets. Strangely, the beef tasted similar to what we have in Indonesia. Will be back to try other dishes..

I dined at Best Friends Kainan sa Valley recently to see if theres improvement from my last visit. After dining at other Filipino eateries in Qld (Cairns, Browns Plains, Gold Coast, Redcliffe) I find food at Kainan lacklustre or average. Dishes are hit or miss (concur with other reviewer). Prices have gone up since my last visit ($8 for 1-dish, $10 for 2-dish) but uses the same smallish plate so I dont think Im getting value for my extra dollar. Their serves are not generous, very measured, leaning more towards less. If you want taste consistency and value for money, Id learn to cook these dishes myself. Its not hard, plenty of free resources on the net (ie. filipino food bloggers, YouTube how tos, books from the library). Ingredients are easily found in any Asian store, just google filipino groceries and youll see a good list. Parking in the Valley is not easy so theyll have to do more to convince me to come back here. If youre in the vicinity, walk over the bridge (near the Valley train), and youll find heaps of other cuisines.

I came here to get my fix of childhood food. I chose the pork stewed with tomatoes and shrimp paste (binagoongan pork) and the unripe jackfruit in coconut milk (sounds weird but yum)! ricefilledbelly.com
