I was looking for a quick lunch today and found myself wandering through Riverland where Burrito Shack currently has a set-up. I ordered 2 x tacos for $12, one chicken and one beef, with medium salsa. I find service from Riverland food vendors generally quite slow so I was pleased that the turnaround on my tacos was fairly quick. These tacos were huge! For lunch, I definitely could have stuck with just the one. I hate to complain about too much food as it’s value for money but there was so much filling, you could not fold the taco to eat and when you attempted to, a third of the filling fell out the other side. So the slow-cooked meat juices are dripping out onto my hands and making the tortilla soggy, making for difficult eating, especially in public. The beef taco in particular had the most enormous dense clump of pulled meat and it was just way too much. The flavours were okay and salsa was a true medium heat but it was unnecessarily big and therefore cumbersome to eat.
Only noticed this place whilst driving past the other week & managed a visit at last. It is close to the road end of the mall & they do street tacos for &5, which makes a healthy cheap & cheerful lunch. The shells are the soft kind & there is a vegetarian option-black bean. There is a choice of salsa so I opted for the spiciest of course & it was topped off with coriander & onion-just delicious
I have never been much of a burrito gal but for some reason I felt like a burrito??!! I was just a short walk away from Burrito Shack and I’d heard from a few friends that it’s pretty good so I gave it a go!!I got a vegan burrito which was just made up of guacamole, rice, a salsa of some sort and some black beans!! It was pretty good and super filling. They have some other items on the menu – nachos, tacos and stuff like that which might also be worth a try as well.
Come here every Saturday on my break and have only had one issue when the pico de gallo wasn’t taken off as asked. But other then that the staff are very friendly, burritos and nachos are soooo good! Generous serves of sour cream and guac on the nachos too, most places are stingy with their toppings. Better then burrito bar, on par with Guzman’s but better value! Highly recommend!
Friendly service and quick food preparation, but my Beef Street Burrito ($10) from the Burrito Shack wasn’t very pleasant. The Burrito consisted of Beef, Black Beans, Cheese, Rice and Salsa wrapped in a Flour Tortilla. The Beef was nice and tender, but lacked flavor. The black beans were wet and the cheese didn’t melt, so every bite was cold in the middle. Similarly, the cold Salsa was applied directly to the rice making it cool and wet. 30-60 seconds in a sandwich press would have improved this burrito immeasurably, but wouldn’t have addressed the flavor issue. As it was, this rated a 2.
