I just ate at this restaurant, and was pretty disappointed to find out that I had missed a fine print at the bottom of the menu which said there would be 15% surcharge on public holidays. What a ripoff! We had the short soup and the north lake mince soup which were both too salty and disappointing. We also had some deep fried dim sims that left so much to be desired. The roast duck was alright but it was served just as it is without any veggies or anything on the side. Overall, you we got very average food for a high price. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Hands down, the best Chinese in The Valley.Consistently wonderful food. Kitchen often make me up non-menu items with zero fuss. Very quick service and very good value. I highly recommend!
There are mixed reviews on here for the enjoy inn. It would seem that for the oriental customers this place lacks, but for the western customer it’s a gem. Being an Aussie I can only add to this divide being true. No idea how it stacks up against traditional Chinese fare, but if your looking for super tasty western style Chinese, all your favourite flavours, then this place is the jackpot. Also read some complaints about portion size. Well… there were 6 of us and we paid 30 bucks a head for a banquet and we all rolled out the door and still left a heap there. We will definitely be back! Often.
When I read Sam Wong’s review on the Enjoy Inn I recounted my own experience last year. Sydney friends invited me out for a Friday dinner at 7pm. The restaurant was 100% full once we were taken to our table. I noticed we were the only Orientals seated. Unperturbed I ordered dinner for four. Four fried quails, a stir fried beef, salt & pepper prawns, steamed silver perch and stir fried vegetables. The quails were over cooked in the deep fryer. The rest of the food whilst palatable did not taste or look like authentic Cantonese cuisine. Looking around we understood and accepted that Enjoy Inn now catered for the Caucasian taste and good luck to them. After we finished our meal we were sipping hot tea for 15 minutes and chatting. Suddenly, a u-shaped silver perch appeared at our table. We had forgotten about our steamed fish and looking at the fish so had the chefs! The fish had been in the steamer >30 minutes instead of 10 minutes. The skin had dried out and shrank making the fish u-shaped and it was soaking in gravy and a thick layer of oil. I told the waitress we were not accepting the over cooked fish and would refuse to pay for it. Fortunately for the cashier my friends pulled me outside while one of them settled the restaurant bill. I was told the cashier still insisted we pay for the over cooked fish. Sayonara and never again!
Coming off a cruise ship on a hot summer day. We are hungry. 2:30 pm and we walked into this restaurant, having noticed its Chinese name which is the name of a relatively well known Chinese restaurant in Melbourne. Couple of tables of mostly non Chinese customers. 31 of us settled in around 3 tables. We ordered the same food for each table. No tea. Just water that taste like coming straight from a tap. The food came. To cut the story short the food is very below par in terms of presentation, smell and taste. The price and quantity is average.Yes. Dry stir fried beef and noodles is a plate of anaemic looking noodles with few slices of beef. There is no so called wok feel at all. Hokkien fried rice is a complete failure ended up with disgusting short grain rice in some type of salty flavour watery gravy. The service? What service? Not coming back again.
Great restaurant. Has been consistently good over many years. Great food and excellent customer service. Perfect place in Chinatown to enjoy quality food in a pleasing atmosphere.
We decided to come in and try out this place as it seemed rather packed on a Friday night. The menu came out and we had a look at all the prices… it was well above any chinese food from sunnybank(at least $5- $10 above). We thought ok? maybe because it’s in the valley? We ordered 4 dishes: sweet sour pork, flaming marinated pork chops, fried tofu and beef stir fry. I’d have to say the food came out quite quickly – which was good. That pretty much was the only positive comment I have. The food itself was average and the servings were tiny… we could get double the size and quality at sunnybank!! Not to mention, I had to ask for table water 3 times before they finally brought it out. I finished with a fried ice cream dessert. It had to be the worst I’ve ever had… the serving was again small.. i asked for chocolate sauce but got nothing.. Very disappointed!
