Bowery …Wednesday…must be Jazz Night!. Okay, so you have hit the middle of the week and you are looking for some inspiration… or just a party? Then head on down to the Bowery. Great bar, great staff, and awesome music. From 9.30 on…
Outdated. I was unaware that venues still enforced dress codes. I was turned away from the Bowery for wearing shorts. Living in Queensland and being in the middle of summer I found this both outdated and ridiculous. This venue should let its drinks speak for it rather than the apparel of their clientele.
Great bar staff. Everyone that has ever served me at this place has been super friendly and very helpful when i’m a bit overwhelmed by the cocktail menu! A very comfortable place to have a drink. 5 stars for service.
THE MOST AMAZING ESPRESSO MARTINIS!
Great spot. Wouldn’t really call it a wine bar, rather s great cocktail bar.
The DJ was the rudest person I’ve ever met and the car staff agreed. I love the cocktails and would recommend this bar to anyone if the DJ were to be changed- in my entire life I’ve never met such a rude and incompetent man and my friends and I and all out friends will refuse to return until he is replaced!
Seen better days. This used to be a fine, fine place. Cool, long and quiet. Kind of a cross between a Melbourne lane bar and inner northside Chicago bar. It was great when it opened: bar staff who actually knew how to make a drink and a bar fit for serious for drinkers (so long as you could ignore the chintzy and completely unnecessary menu – I mean, really? A menu?). A lovely place on a quiet night for a couple of well-made drinks. Nowadays, its all about the Friday and Saturday night crowd. Packing them and serving them any old nonsense. They used to have some fine bar staff there once; now, its just kids now who seem easily bullied by uncaring disinterested management into cutting corners on service – the kind of people who take themselves far more seriously than the customer or the bar the that matter. Who think customers should serve staff and who wear baseball caps inside for chrissakes (and wear the caps back to front), can you believe it). A damn rude too, one little guy, who seemed to run the place and should not be working with people without adult supervision. It also smells too which is another sign of declining standards. What is really sad is that they used to know how to make a martini here – a true test of a decent bar. When I was last there, a barman put bitters into it. Bitters…I guess they are making a lot of money and have lost interest. Pity – I have drunk in a lot of bars all round the world and this was one of my favourites, a truly fine bar. Nowadays…meh. Forget about it.
