Looking at the reviews this place does seem to be hit or miss but we can say we where very happy with our food. The curry lamb shanks was amazing , super tender with a nice smooth masaman curry. Paired well with coconut rice.The deep fried whole barramundi was really nice adding a crispy texture to our meal. It had the right amount of seasoning and wasnt too hard to handle when it came to the bones. The service was ok but they did seem a little short staffed at times. I can see why people may have different experiences here depending on how busy it is. Overall if your looking for good solid tasting thai food, packed with traditional thai flavours, great value for money and can excuse average service. This place is recommended.

Second visit, second ‘mission accomplished’… and then some! After recommending Betong to friends, with more orders and improved choices, things were better on so many levels. Surprisingly (as a rarely seen stubby), the wheat beer Hoegaarden (weighing in at a mighty 4.9%) was amongst the bottled beer and this was the perfect appetiser. Try it,love it – its something different and worth the moment.From one classic to another, the Tom Yum Goong (a very famous Thai dish with a pleasing aroma) set the bar even higher. Incredibly flavoursome, the lashings of herbs, chilli, lemongrass and kafirr lime leaves – (and don’t forget the mushrooms or choice of meat, although traditionally prawns) demand an immediate date with rice. For those about to drool, we salute you…Just when you thought it couldn’t get any crazier, it does. ‘From the nets’ comes the outstanding ‘Pia Rard Prik’ (Barramundi with spicy sauce) and this was deep fried. Yet, still not quite as amazing as the steamed Lime Barramundi (Pia Nung Manuo) which bedazzles you with everything from its sizzling presentation to its princely combination of fresh chilli, lime juice and garlic. Fish rarely gets better than this.Finally, a word for the veggie curry, easy pleasing with its coconut cream and ‘reds and greens’. Complete with excellent service, this place is a must for any lover of Thai Food – and 15% to any first time customer is a strong selling point.
Absolutely disgusting food, worst I have ever had . DO NOT GO THERE!!! THE HEALTH DEPARTMENT MUST CHECK THIS PLACE IMMEDIATELY!!!! Very disappointed
Tonight we has Tom Yum, Quail and noodles. Betong has a great selection of authentic Thai with a number of western friendly Thai and south East Asian dishes. This is the second time I’ve eaten here and both times I’ve been pleasantly surprised at the quality. Highly recommended!
Owner is plain rude. We did not book however was completely empty – raining outside.Owner refused to allow us to sit inside – was arrogant and insisted that the tables were book.In the end we sat outside, the food was tasteless – when drinks were served, the glasses we received were less than 200ml for a $4 soft drink.Food was tasteless and bland.. would not recommend!
