Beautiful selection of professional celebration cakes. Purchased two takeaway lattes and a slice of fruit cake for $15.50. The fruit cake was lovely and moist and full of fruit. The coffee was pretty basic – slightly bitter and the froth was full of bubbles. I get that the staff are focused on making the cakes and so I got the vibe that our coffees were a bit rushed on account of it being a busy day. Very sweet interior with classic movie stars on display as part of the decor. The score of three is for the ambience and the fruit cake.

Disappointed to say the least. I paid nearly $200 for a cake which I would imagine to be quite simple, it looked nothing like I had requested and after cutting into the cake I found it dry and burnt, which isn’t that hard to notice on a white chocolate mud cake. Still waiting to be acknowledged for the email I sent to the owner which kindly explains my disappointment, very unprofessional.

Diana. Am I in Rome? or am I in Paris? Don’t much care either one will do, & believe it or not Classic Cakes has the relevent je ne sais quoi to provide both! Not only that they have these magnificent cakes lovingly crafted to order for any occasion. Sitting elegently in the prime space of the window was a black Coco Chanel number complete with stilleto heel shoe. I want it for my next party! Getting back to reality, the coffee was Italian-del Zoti- rich & strong & sitting sipping it away from the bustle of the main Logan Road just hit the spot!

Classic Cakes recently supplied my wedding cake. I am indecisive at the best of times and found them to be supportive and full suggestions. In the end I had a high quality cake that received rave reviews from my guests. Tasted great and looked fantastic. I would recommend them to anyone.

Classic Cakes – Holland Park, Brisbane. Very small in space, taking a lot of influence from the many aesthetics of Italy and its cities with movie stills from arthouse films by Fellini and Hollywood productions taking place in Rome. It is almost like a dessert place from a movie, walking in it is aesthetically pleasing. While the appeal to many are obvious, it is a bit of a mixed bag – there are other places around town that it would be more suited for and that would definitely entail bigger business. It has the perfect vibe for a movie set, it is really clean and well-decorated. You could almost forget that you were on a main road, it is that cosy and quiet. The building appears to be old-style which may add to the Italian influence. Even the service seems to be suited, with a sweet if a bit ditzy lady in charge of the place. She knows the sweets well showing great dedication. Her concoctions adorn the cabinets in such a way that it all become an aesthetic and perfectionist set – maybe Holland Park is not the best place for it. This is so, because it is not the cheapest of places – a coffee and two sweets here will set you back around $20 give or take. It is also a bit ambiguous as not all the sweets have their prices prominently displayed, even for those who can afford to go here it should not be so. Some are quite good here, others are passable but not something I would think would cost as much as it does. I tried a cappuccino as usual; it was a cappuccino. Nothing quite to write home about, it is not the speciality of the house. If it were for just a coffee, there are other places nearby but if it were a coffee with the sweet then I guess fair is fair. The French custard sponge is an odd sweet. There are paper thing shards of white chocolate on top that must take heaps of effort to cut, they layer the cakes quite well. Upon biting into this, I am not sure what to think. The quality is quite good, but something seems …. hard to describe with it. However, there is the French vanilla slice which was fantastic. Every bite was rich, sweet and creamy. It is freshly baked and of a high level of quality. Each component of the vanilla slice is given due attention. This place has its up and down, it is out of place in Holland Park – which does not have too high of a median income – and more suited to somewhere like New Farm or the CBD where it would be well suited and have the clientele needed. It is not a place where I would go much, but it was worth trying out once. There is a niche it fills and I hope it does well there.

Brilliant for wedding cakes! Excellent service!. If you are looking for somewhere to buy your wedding cake… I am here to tell you that your long search is OVER!!We looked all over town for someone to do our wedding cake. We were surprised that it wasn’t an easy task at the time. Either prices were ridiculous or they wouldn’t deliver, or they just didn’t look very good.We found Classic Cakes just down the road from us in the end. We spoke to Mimi and knew straight away we had found the right person. The prices were reasonable, the cakes looked fantastic and Mimi was able to deliver the cake to the venue! The end result was just beautiful, the most delicious cake I have ever had. We recently were guests at another wedding who also used Classic Cakes and it brought back so many memories, hence why I am finally writing a review 5 years later. There is a few negative comments on Google about customer service, however I don’t understand this as Mimi is just lovely.

Pleasant Surprise. We discovered this caf on a recent visit to an establishment across the road. As its name suggests this is a retail outlet for custom made, to order cakes for special occasions such as birthdays, engagements and weddings. As we were in the area again we decided to give it a try for morning tea. What a pleasant surprise it was. The dcor reminded us very much of a Melbourne caf. Pictures of old time movie stars line the walls and the music level was just right. It is a very cozy caf with limited seating. Inside there are three tables that hold twelve customers plus another two outside catering for another five. We visited mid-morning on a Saturday and decided to sit inside. At that time there was full table of six customers at the back and one customer outside. Overall it was not too busy. The eats cabinet was full of tempting choices. We chose a raspberry, coconut slice and a hazelnut biscuit accompanied by two cappuccinos. We were told that most of the sweets on offer are made on the premises. The coffee was excellent. Only wish we could remember the brand! We also purchased four lovely cupcakes to take away for further review. The service was very friendly and the coffee and eats were delivered promptly to our table. If you are in the Holland Park area we would recommend you also try Classic Cakes.
