We dined there last night (10th Jan 2013) for my father’s 70th Birthday. There were 10 of us. The restaurant is in a lovely spot beside the marina at sanctuary cove. There is parking near by in the village, and ample parking out in the car park. The restaurant is simple but clean and the smells wafting from the kitchen were devine. We were all seated and drink orders were taken with efficiency. It is fully licensed. No BYO. My beer was only just cold which was annoying ESP in a hot restaurant. In fact the restaurant itself was stifling hot – not helped by the fact it was a very balmy 31 degree evening, with massive pizza oven only 10m away, and no air con. The poor staff were sweating too. They would have been better on a very hot night with no breeze to shut the doors and turn the air con on. It would have also shut down the midgies too. I have to commend our waiter, a delightful young lady from the UK. I can’t recall her name, but she did introduce herself which is a lovely touch. She was a fantastic asset to the venue, knew the menu, efficient and friendly and just very good at her job! She even went next door to borrow some aerogaurd for us. We had some pizza breads to share for starters (bruschetta and a garlic & olive oil) which were lovely. The table cleared and mains arrived swiftly. I had the fettuccini marinara. The pasta was cooked perfectly and there was lashings of seafood in the pasta. The only criticism was the prawns were frozen packet ones, not fresh, which there is no need for on the Gold Coast. The gnocchi my niece had was sensational. The chicken Parmas were massive and cooked perfectly, not dried out like they often are. The pizzas looked small, but were adequate for one and the pizza marinara was a hit! Again our fabulous waiter looked after us well throughout the meal, and checked on us at appropriate intervals to ensure we were all ok with drinks etc. We had the restaurant make Dad’s Birthday cake, and they did a Fabulous job!! Coffees ( most had affagato) were one of the best I’d had in a long time. For entree, main, 2- 3 drinks each and the lovely cake and coffees it worked out to $48/pp. Highs: – waiter/ service was excellent and I am very fussy. – food was high quality, tasty and cooked well (with exception of frozen prawns)- coffee was very good.Lows: – frozen prawns used in dishes- restaurant was uncomfortably hotI would recommend this restaurant and would certainly eat here again. Thank you for helping us to make our Dad’s 70th an enjoyable night to remember. 🙂

Dinner Review. What a disappointment. Worst service I have seen. Food was fine but let down by completely untrained staff. After sitting for 20m unattended I got up and got my own menu. Another 20m before I could raise a waitress attention because they all look at the floor rather than their guests. Only got one drink and one glass of water but had to ask twice to get that.
We came because of the awesome smell wafting from inside, but we won’t be coming back – we had to wait an hour for our mains, and the pizza came out 10m before the pasta dishes. We also had our empty entree dishes and three empty glasses on our table for more than 45m. The worst customer service I’ve had at a restaurant in a long time.
