From an unassuming shop in Hope Island comes the most exquisite Chinese food. We have been there several times over the years & it is always packed with locals, which obviously say something for the chef. Personally I would have to rate it as the best Chinese restaurant on the coast but at the least the northern end anyway. We didn’t order & left it up to chef who sent out four main dishes which were made up of two seafood dishes, a beef noodle dish & a vegetable dish & then finished off with some deep fried ice-cream. On the next table arrived an enormous Peking Duck which was carved with perfection & served like the waitress was trained at the most famous Peking Duck Restaurant in Beijing. I am told if you want the duck you have to pre order as the ducks are bought daily & only enough for that nights order so you know you are getting the freshest & best quality. Five stars for food & also for the wait staff who were ever so friendly.
This is definitely the place to go for Peking Duck and Chinese food in the area. There’s a large selection of items on the menu to please all types of taste buds but as the restaurant is named after the Peking Duck, this is the must order dish.I asked the chef if I could see how the ducks are made and he was kind enough to lead me into the spotless kitchen (a rarity these days) and I saw my fresh duck go straight into the huge oven and cooked to order. The Peking Duck arrived promptly and the crispy skin and sauce is very similar to the one I had in Beijing, the duck skin is perfectly roasted and is served with a special homemade sauce that has a honey consistency. We also ordered Fresh Pippies in XO sauce, Salt and Pepper Calamari and Stir fried snow peas with Chinese sausage and all dishes were fresh and flavourful without being too oily. The staff here are friendly and I like that they remember our names each visit, if i’m in the area i’ll definitely visit again. Thanks for the wonderful meal.
We come from Sydney! Arrived at the restaurant looking at the decor, it was a bit out of date. But the taste of the food worth for a drive from where we stayed. Little suburban restaurant with lots of people. I really love the chilli combination. It was a bit salty but like strong flavour to go with rice. We came here after visited movie world. Thanks for making our day even better at Gold Coast!
Great food and great service!!
Average overpriced food. The menu prices online are out of date. Hardly any veggies in the veg fried rice and after requesting cashews in my chow mein I only got about 6.
