Attended for dinner last night (Saturday 30/9/17). We are locals and family from overseas. So wanted to impress, but came away very disappointed with the good and especially the service. We used our plates and cutlery for the starters but when finished these were not taken away and us given clean ones for the main meal. The special risotto was so full of mushrooms and artichokes and actually lacked rice, just not right. The pumpkin ravioli was so over cooked it looked like a bowl of mash potato, this meal was sent back. The staff were not to be seen when needed. They ignored empty glasses. One over eggar one hovered over and tried to take the plate before it was finished. Overall disappointing.
Definitely go to this place. Food is curated, tasty, well presented and their terrace is quiet, nice and romantic. All the experience there was great. The fillet was amazing, the chocolate cake was fabulous. One of those places kind of needle in the middle of the grass- considering also the overall quality of the food on magnetic island this place definitely stands out.
Easily the best option for food in Horseshoe Bay. We ate here three times in four days, including both our first and last meals. Our middle meal included a special and the fish of the day in salad format, which were both enjoyable and fresh. The seafood pasta was nice, but I felt it lacked that final ‘kick’ that you want in an otherwise very creamy pasta. A note on size: unless you’re an eater+, then the smaller size should be adequate for you (certainly for anyone’s caloric intake requirements anyway!). Desserts were okay but nothing special – an ice cream sundae that could be found in a La Porchetta or other low-end suburban barn style eatery, and the macadamia sticky toffee was pretty dry and middling. So why the 4 rating? The SEAFOOD PLATTER. It was so great we had it twice – and tellingly, the second time was just as good. Beautiful seafood, great chips and just enough green leaves. Yum. Yum. Yum. Also – they made us some iced mochas (not on the menu), which were also great. Definitely the pick of the bunch.
