The ambiance of the bar part of this place is why you come here – perfectly fits the HSB environment. The snack style food was pretty nice – the dips and fresh prawns were quite enjoyable. The salt and pepper squid was okay but was the lesser when compared to the other squid we’d had in HSB. A word of warning however: we’d later tried a ‘wagyu burger’ – honestly, the most disgusting thing I’ve had to try and eat in a really long time. The meat patty was grey and homogenous and looked like something you’d have been served at a school camp in primary school in the 80s. There was no wagyu beef within ten miles of that burger. I had two bites and felt ill, because it really seemed like I was just eating offal held together by grease, sat on a dry bun with a sad limp bit of lettuce, washed out slice of tomato and way too much overly sweet but under spiced salsa stuff. The accompanying chips were amazing though (onion rings chewy and tasteless). Really laid back place to have a snack and watch some sport with a cold drink but if you have any sense of taste (or self preservation when it comes to your health), I’d steer well clear of that ‘wagyu’ burger.
Ordered Cajun burger, it was just okay. The fries didn’t have any salt, though this is something I have observed at some other places as well but but no salt does kill the taste.Wife ordered a garlic prawn and bread. The garlic prawn was just okay.
Back at Magnetic Island since our last visit when Yasi knocked on the door. Food ordered was OK however forgettable. Parmigiana was smallish and dry. Entree squid was quite good. Place is in excellent position and setup inviting. Will return to try some other dishes. Coming from Melbourne I might be a little spoilt with food however the eating on the island has improved significantly since our last trip. Well done.

Ordered a cocktail jug that tasted like lemonade, when queried they said the amount of alcohol put in it was correct and were more then happy to pour it down the sink rather then try and fix the problem. Food was average, prawns were tasty but the salad was missing key ingredients. The customer service was a real let down. Don’t waste your time or money here.
Good pub food. Had the BLT and chips. No complaints from any of us and we are pretty fussy! Much better than the pub at Arcadia and good value too. There was attention to detail that would suggest that someone in the kitchen cares about the food they’re sending out – not always the case with pub food and it’s good to see that management are supporting that and not stinting on higher quality ingredients. Good atmosphere, great view and importantly, reasonable beers on tap. Would go back.
I loved having lunch at this pub. Nice timber feel, view of the sea from my seat. We ordered the seafood platters and they were fresh and tasty. All in all great experience. Will definitely be coming back next time
