I ordered the Char Keow Teow and Hai Nam Chicken Rice here. Both dishes were below average – the Char Keow Teow was nothing close to authentic, which I would expect from a Malaysian restaurant, and the Hai Nam Chicken Rice didn’t even come with good chicken. The preparation style was clearly inaccurate to actual Hainanese cuisine, and I have not returned since. If you find yourself at Laksa hut, I recommend trying the Laksa, since I expect it is impossible to make a dish poorly if you have named your restaurant after it.
Wow this was an unexpected place to find a really good laksa! Situated In Indooroopilly conveniently not far from the train station and shopping centre. Serves Malaysian staples but as per their name the laksa is king. Serving size is large and prices are reasonable. Best Laksa in Brisbane I have found so far!
So I have been going to this place since it was in Toowong and shorty after the move to Indoro it has started to decline. In the 15 years that I used this place to get my Laksa fix I have now seen it decline considerably and the trip to this place is not really worth the quality of food. I believe the original owners sold it to possibly family member? sister? and Johnny is no longer in the kitchen and it now shows. The laksa is just coconut with an oily mess, the roast pork is still good but the flavour is no longer there, once you finish your bowl you do not see all anything left in the bottom of the bowl like before. It is a shame the quality has been reduced to 2 stars over the years. I will probably make the trip there every 6 months to see if it improves but I highly doubt it.It’s a shame as when it was back in Toowong the Laksa was the best in Brisbane by a long shot!
