A place to definitely revisit. Indian Mehfil has very courteous staff and quality food, I have never been disappointed. Mark this place on your calendars soon!

Fronting dArcy Doyle Place, Indian Mehfil is a highly-regarded restaurant. Based on the philosophy that the guest is god, an evening at Indian Mehfil is a highly enjoyable experience. Theres a sense of awe on entering the restaurant, the 4-metre ceilings of the heritage building towering above us, tables clad in linen and walls adorned by romantic Bollywood-style Indian paintings. Our mixed platter of starters ($18) is a meal in itself. Curries are rich and full of flavour, boasting threads of coconut or strands of ginger, the mark of being made by hand. Frankly, its some of the best Indian food weve tasted in Queensland. While many dishes are well-known regional specialties, we noticed a Gulab Jamun on the menu served with flamb Cointreau, an interesting twist to a classic dessert. Service is gracious as well, and theres a sense that this very affordable restaurant could just as easily house grand celebrations as it could a casual family night out. foodgoldcoast.com.au

We had a really tasty meal – last week – the restaurant was so nicely decorated – heaps of food- we probably over ordered but I had take home left overs so not worried!

We have been eating here regularly for the past few months and haven’t had anything other than great meals. My partner orders his meals ‘Indian hot’ and while he is happy to sweat, he is impressed when flavour is not compromised for heat. I prefer medium dishes. The heat can be a bit variable, but the taste is always great and quality is always high. Recommend saag gosht, methi Melai, eggplant curry, fish curry, actually just eat it all! Great service and beautiful building and atmosphere.

We recently ate at Indian Mehfil and unfortunately had a less that satisfactory meal. While the atmosphere and service was good the food was disappointing. The flavour in both dishes was quite bland and it was evident these meals had been badly prepared. Our order included a tandoori chicken and Lamb rogan josh. As these are meals we have enjoyed at many different locations we had an idea what to expect. The tandoori was quite dry and did not have the signature flavours one would expect with this type of fish and was more like a tikka. The rogan josh was more like a stew flavour and it was clear this had been pre cooked and extremely bland. To add injury to insult when we did provide feedback the waitress stated that tandoori was a dry consistency which I know is rubbish. The process of cooking in a tandoor provides a high heat which creates a succulent consistency as with many tandoori dishes I have previously enjoyed.

I have only had take away from this place. Flavor is good, but it is not very strong. Good place for people who can’t deal with intense spice and flavor. Kids loved it.

Love my Mehfils, it’s my little taste of India right at home in Ipswich. I’ve eaten both at the Restaurant and Take-Away, my pakoras never make the drive home. I like Palak Paneer and Rogan Josh as prob my favourites… Try all the dishes, give them a go and find your favourite!! Thanks Mr Mehfil and your awesome team!!!
