A delightful ice-cream shop located in the heart of Ipswich Town within the grounds of the former technical college.Be ready to try some absurd sounding however delicious ice-ecreams. With runner up Master Chef winner and brother Danny and Ben using fresh and local ingredients to create and a delightful taste to the palette. The abundance of flavours both modern spins on otherwise unthought of ice-cream ingredients to classic favours you will definitely be leaving feeling satisfied and coming back for more.We had the Summer Tasting Plate and at $22 we were left full just on ice-cream. It had an assortment of Lavender and Honeycomb, Lemon Honey and Thyme and Pumpkin Seed Oil Ice-cream combined with a Chocolate Mandarin filled Cannoli. The three are ample for two people are these contrasting flavours and just whats needed after dinner.Cannot recommend this place enough and combined with the lovely service sets the scene for a great post dinner trip!

Hubby and I came across this building by accident recently and noticed a sign for Ungermann Bros. outside it. I read up that the owner Ben is the runner-up to last years Masterchef. I always thought he should have won! Anyway, this is a lovely precinct in a beautiful historical building. The ice cream shop is lovely, decorated with blue and white bench seats, reminiscent of old cars. The brick walls give it a warm and inviting ambience. The ice cream itself is a bit expensive at $7 for one scoop, when you can get 3 scoops for $6.50 at La Macelleria in Brisbane. And even though the flavours were fab I chose salted caramel, bacon and pecan the texture was not as smooth and creamy as I would have hoped for. Hubby chose vanilla pod flavour, which he enjoyed. They use locally sourced ingredients where possible; and everything is handmade and natural. You can get a tasting platter of several flavours if you would like to experiment. The kitchen is open, so you can wander by and watch the ladies at work. They are hoping to expand their repertoire to spiked (alcoholic) shakes also. I loved the space, and I enjoyed trying the flavours, but I was a teeny bit disappointed by the price and quality. Open 6 days a week till 9 or 10pm. sherryspickings.blogspot.com

Amazing creation of flavours for beautifully creamy icecream and refreshingly smooth sorbets. the tatsing plate was a great experience and magical combination of flavours. Nothing like I have ever tried! Brought my nieces (6+9 years old) they loved it, fairy bread, so much they had a second serving in lemon lime and bitters sorbet for the road!

We were visiting friends in Ipswich and decided to swing by Ungermann Brothers for a Saturday afternoon icecream. Situated in the lovely new 88 Limestone Street precinct, the shop itself is retro and funky kitted out in American diner decor. The menu was definitely unique and not run of the mill, with flavours such as Pumpkin Seed Oil, Roasted Garlic and Coffee & Cardamon on offer. We didnt taste test (silly us) and went straight in for the Lemon Lime Bitters sorbet and the Coconut Lime icecream. Unfortunately the consistency of both was a little disappointing. Icecream too icy/not really creamy and sorbet was separating, was super sweet with barely a hint of bitters. The price was the main let down for us. Were used to having amazing Gelato Messina packed with chunky mix-ins for under $5. Here the standard price is $7 for a large scoop, with toppings costing more. Totally understand theyre a new local business and so the price needs to reflect that but for us, the quality wouldnt have us coming back again in a hurry. In saying that our tip for people heading here would be to taste test before you buy – that way youll be totally happy with your flavour 🙂
