Beautiful setting, unfortunately we had a terrible experience with some of the staff. We arrived 30 minutes early for our booking and were happy to wait… but when half of the restaurant is empty and they continued to insist that we had to wait until our booking time to sit down (see photo) – that was frustrating – they didn’t even come to get us, we had to continue asking! The manner of some of the staff was unfriendly, unwelcoming, no smiles, and I witnessed them being unhelpful when a couple came in and ordered a cool drink, asking for some extra sugar as one of them was a diabetic… they just put extra sugar in, no help to stir it in. Some staff were kind but they were not the ones in charge. If you are looking for good service I would not choose this place.
Location, location, location… graceful position at the iconic grounds of Yungaba would be worth 5 stars rating. Unfortunately food doesnt match the great location and its really pleasant atmosphere. There is plenty of room for improvement. We went for a dinner and had:Smoked Duck, couldnt taste smokiness, duck skin was rather chewy. Pacific Island Fish salad – very slim entre, nothing pacific about it, fish was sliced too thick and over cured, 40% of the dish was onion. Scallop & Mascarpone Risotto – was the best dish tonight, reason for my plate envy. Little I tasted was delicious, rice was cooked al dente Frango a Africana – Grilled chicken breast | coconut cream | cayenne pepper | roast vegetables | port wine reduction | peanut panisse; chicken breast is always risky, the meat itself was cooked properly but overall the dish was strangely shy on flavour. For dessert we had Baklava and Galaktoboureko (Greek Custard Pie with Syrup). Galaktoboureko was traditionally made and served with dusting of cinnamon. Baklava sadly lacked that lemon/honey syrup that makes it so decadent and the serving was really small in comparison with the other dessert (1/4). #Medley, an outstanding location, nice atmosphere, unfortunately food lacks the oomph.
Booked a table for 8 Saturday brunch. Food arrived 50 minutes after ordered. Only 2 in kitchen. Understaffed. Food tolerable but overpriced. Not to mention the kitchen hand with long untied hair who ran his fingers through his beloved locks at least once a minute. Never again.
