Well, well, well: chandeliers at the Story Bridge Hotel huh? Expresso martinis on tap you say? Been a while since our last visit & clearly a lot has changed.Theres endless wines, cocktails, ciders, beers & spirits in this vast open pub. You name it, they got it & we had it. Foodwise theres also lots of variety. Was eyeing off the spicy pork san choy bau or a salad when half a dozen pizzas appeared. I was dubious…but these were a pleasant surprise – really nice sauces and flavoursome toppings. They soaked up the booze perfectly.Bar staff patiently accommodated a number of our odd requests, so we patiently indulged while the newbie learnt how to make their first mai tai. (It wasnt great.) Of the floor staff, Zoe in particular managed our group of about 20 blokes (+ poor lil moi) with sass and professional aplomb. Some things never change so I wasnt surprised to find chunder chunks in the bathroom sink. Now thats the Story Bridge I remember!
A huge pub with a range of areas to drink and dine. The front part had a band playing as well. I ordered san Choy bow, and for $14 was good value for money as I got four pieces. The food menu has a great range on offer, burgers, salads, pizzas and starters. Better than most pub food. Had a few wines and the cocktails were good too. They hold functions and also have big screens for sporting games. Its the perfect location for a group catch up. aroundtheclockfoodie.com
Woah! 50c charge for a wedge of lime with my Gin and Tonic…. I’ve been going there for years, I questioned the bar staff and she said their new policy charges 50c for a wedge of lime with Gin and Tonic! This is crazy!
Been trying out my local spots lately and the Brisbane food scene has been surprisingly pleasant. Had the pulled pork roll and a local beer for lunch and it was delicious. Service was smooth and our waiter Chris was hilarious. All in all a relaxed Saturday afternoon.
I’ve been here a few times and the food is always consistent. I’ve ordered the Arancini balls twice and they have been great both times. They come with a nice onion jam and chipotle mayo. You get a big serving for the price. Crispy on the outside and cheesy and creamy in the inside. The chipotle mayo is very nice but the Arancini ball itself could do with a bit more flavour as the flavours are coming from the sauce and jam.
The staff here seem to think they’re better than everyone else, they were so rude. We were told it was table service but then had to go order at the counter because we were ignored. We ordered a carbonara, a rump steak with extra mushroom gravy and a garlic bread. After 20 mins the garlic bread came out and was two pieces $6 Then another long wait and our meals were out. The carbonara was 24 dollars. I could have made it better myself for 24 dollars and fed a whole family. I asked for my steak medium rare, cameOut dry chewy and bland along with the poor excuse for mushroom gravy which was gross and tasted old. I may not have been so harsh if we were treated with a little bit of kindness but never ever returning to this place.
A horrible place. They treat customers like criminals. They take customers’ driver licence and credit card and hold hostage until the customer leaves. This is outrageous! Especially since many government agencies strongly advise not to let your ID documents or bank cards out of your sight ever due to dangers of fraud and identity theft. If we didn’t have guests with us, we would have turned and left immediately. To add insult to injury, the food was terrible and overpriced. We will never come close to the Story Bridge Hotel and their Shelter Bar! So ashamed that places like this exist in our city and in our country.
