For some reason that is a mystery to me, this place is always busy … they probably benefit from a lack of good alternatives in the local area. But the food is not really authentic Thai style. It is more pan-Asian, probably closer to Chinese than genuine Thai style cooking. On top of that, consistency is a real problem with the Kenmore location … some weeks food is just ok, some weeks it is just plain awful. No balance in seasoning, use of food coloring in curry pastes, too much onion in dishes, vegetables barely cooked, meat tough and sinewy. Can’t recommend this place at all, and we have stopped going since discovering a better option out at Jindalee
We have eaten a few times at this restaurant about 1 year ago and had a pleasant time however earlier this week we were every disappointed in the food. One of the dishes we ordered appeared to have been either frozen or in the refrigerator for a long time. When heated the water separated from the food and caused the food to go clumpy. It was horrible. I complained to the waiter and she just didn’t seem bothered. I complained again and she said it was normal. When I complained upon paying the bill I was ignored and could not speak to the chef about it. We will definitely not be going back if this is the new way of serving dishes and treating its clientele
I was really impressed with tonights dinner from Siam sunset. It has a great feel to the restaurant and the food was amazing. The best prawn green curry this side of Brisbane! Great flavours much better than other thai places nearby in kenmore. Definitely try out this place!
We went on a hot summer night with a whole group of family and friends. We ordered way too much food and weren’t disappointed with any of the dishes, although some people hogged some of the plates and they in turn were met with my hangry dagger eyes. After dinner we continued to drink bottle after bottle until we were the only table there for what must of been a couple hrs. We then noticed that the staff had secretly turned the heater on as a polite attempt to sweat us out.It worked! and with sweat pouring from our foreheads, full bellys, and sore cheeks (from laughing) we left. But we will definitely be going back.
Some tasty food but very expensive and a small amount of meat in some dishes. I also had steamed dim sims that were raw in the middle. It can be a long wait for food on a busy night. I’ve only had take away and not dined in.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Brisbane. You absolutely MUST order the Duck and Lychee curry – a signature dish and one you won’t find anywhere else. Only detractor is that since recent renovations, it can be very noisy on a busy night. If you want a Saturday or Friday dinner, book ahead and ask to sit at the back of the restaurant where it’s a bit quieter
Disappointing.. We ordered from the take away menu so perhaps dine in would be better? Both meals were from the wok, the beef chilli and basil was very bland, albeit with fresh vegetables. The vegetarian garlic and white pepper was more like a soup and had cucumber and tomato for garnish which really didn’t help disguise the fact that it was sloppy. The flavour did not come across as garlic nor pepper but instead as a very poor quality fish sauce. For the price (the steamed rice was $3 alone) I’ve eaten much nicer Thai in Brisbane. I would recommend trying elsewhere.
