Don’t get over Kenmore way often – the tavern has had quite an upgrade! It’s stylish and modern yet still inviting with lots if different spaces. We were with a birthday party and were given an area cordoned off with lots is space and seating. Food was just party finger food but fresh and lots of it.I thought drinks were expensive $9.90 for a Midori premix. Service good and live music which the Friday night crowd was really in to. Wouldn’t mind having it as my local!
A terrific find!! My partner and I discovered this bar just recently and had the opportunity to check it out on Saturday late afternoon. We were the first customers there & upon entering the venue, we were very impressed with the funky decor & general layout. We tried almost every cocktail on the menu & all were made to perfection! The Amaretto sour was by far the best I’ve had!! A must! The turkish delight martini was also exceptional! The service was amazing, with the manager making a personal effort to ensure we were looked after the entire time. The food menu provided good eats with the cocktails. Will definitely be returning for more!!
Retro Goodtimes. This unique and wonderful bar offers a mecca for musicians, a convivial atmosphere for patrons and a well thought out setup for musicians and patrons alike, that is like no other in Brisbane. When I tell my professional musician friends about thia venue and they take a look on Facebook, to a person they feel that there is not enough of these around the place. Many have too many distractions from TV. screens , reflecting many other distracting events, which are not conducive to the atmosphere of good music, good company and good food. The RetroBar is conducive to all those good things and more. The proprieter, the staff, always are welcoming, and the patrons of who I have got to know a few, who may have been unsure at first, have quickly come to realise, that even though a few of us are professional musos., we still play for the love, and are human beings like everybody else, and will always make you welcome, come and try us and find out for yourself. Urban music. There are fewer and fewer venues these that provide us with a platform to enjoy local and visiting musos. Good on the retro bar for providing this. i remember the good old days of the Embassy hotel, Royal exchange, the Paddo, the Regatta but these venues have long since lost that Sunday arvo or Thursday evening session feel. Let there be more Retro bars all over Brisbane!!!!
Awesome little bar right on my doorstep, Brisbane needs more venues like this. After being introduced to The Retro from a family member I have been playing music on Thursday nights at the open mic and jam session for about twelve months. A lot of fun and an awesome little live music venue. The staff are always great and Pete the owner is one entertaining host. If you want something a little more intimate and cool then get along to The Retro Bar.
Hidden Gem. Since discovering this cosy bar through a couple of friends last year, it’s become a regular haunt of mine to go to mostly on the Thursday Open Mic & Jam night. The ambience of the place is relaxed and friendly. I’ve met and made some great new friends here and I really enjoy the eclectic music that makes each week just that little bit different. I’ve told others I know to go along and support this great bar that definitely deserves it. Those that have feel the same way as I do.
