Have eaten here a number of times when we stay in Caloundra. Each time we go back, we seem to have forgotten how poor the food is here, and each time we leave promising to never go back again. On a positive, the staff are all very good, attentive and aware and keep things moving pretty well. The location is quite nice, although it can be brutally hot inside at times (as it was today). The main frustration here is the food and drinks: The coffee is way to hot to the point of being burnt, and is very bitter. A regular pet peeve of mine is when cafe’s include a ‘Pot Tea’ menu (as Cafe 21 does) but they simply put twining tea bags in a pot of boiling water. Pot Tea is traditionally leaf tea in a reservoir, and tastes considerably better – and this is what I would happily pay $4 or more for. But two Twinings Earl Grey dropped in a ‘pot’ of hot water is poor form. The sweets we got from the counter are pre-packaged—which is not bad by itself as many cafes need to source their sweets cabinet from external suppliers—but the quality here is absolutely terrible. $6 for a vanilla slice that I couldn’t eat more than two small mouthfuls of.Disappointing every time we go and I hope we remember that for next time!

Had their lasagna chips and salad.  Waited a while for the chips to be just warm and the lasagna cold in the middle, obviously a microwave job which isn’t bad if they can get it right.  Wont go back.

Seems popular with the oldies. Comparable to an RSL with slightly better presentation. Chicken breast was overcooked on outside and raw inside. Fritters were burnt and got sent back.
