I went there with Elise on Wednesday night and I had Beef Fajitas with some cheese and sour cream and she had the same but hers was a mixed chicken one. The Mexican Punch I had was very relaxing but the glass of wine she had tasted terrible so I would recommend brining your own wine instead. It was extremely nice of them to honour the Birthday Voucher for me since it wasn’t my Birthday. Also I found the Churros very tasty.
Came here as a recommendation and everything was just lacking. Waiting for the food for 45 minutes to arrive and once it did, it did not look like it needed that long as it didn’t look appetising at all (ribs and rice was burnt and overcooked, we wanted whole beans not mushed up baby food). The only upside was the sangria.
We ordered takeaway from here and they stuffed up the order. I ordered vegetarian food and was given some meat combo dish we couldn’t identify on the menu. The takeaway food was dry and the taco we got wasn’t even put together properly and had a broken shell. Overall extremely disappointing as I eat in a lot at the montezumas in Taringa and the food is always good.
Decided to go here with my girlfriend on a Monday night and the Resturant was pretty busy. A waitress greeted us and seated us quickly, she advised that if we wanted drinks we had to order them at the bar and she would return shortly to take our order. This is when the service went from bad to worse. I went to the bar and waited with another gentlemen for approx 5 min before a staff member served us, we then waited another 25 min before a staff member returned to take our order! I wouldn’t have minded except staff saw us and yet not one came over to take our order. After ordering our food it then took 1 hour to receive our food!! At no stage did a staff member check if we were ok or to advise that there was a long wait. A older staff member then came over and said ‘ it’s a little crazy in here ‘ I assume she meant they were short staffed but it still didn’t explain for the exceptionally poor service. Food was very average and decor is dated and run down. I can’t see how this place is still operating with standards like this. Will never return !
I just don’t like the food at any Montezumas locations. I always leave feeling disappointed with my dish choice and as such have stopped going. A shame as the restaurant is reasonably priced and the atmosphere is quite authentic. I used to deal with the very, very average food as the prices were good but recently more mexican food joints have opened with equally good prices and better tasting food.
