Keep my promise to return with a group of eight people to have a Christmas dinner here. Love to come with large group so we can share more dishes. Pre-book the Pork Hock with Soy Sauce and we decided to have the following dishes: Crispy Duck (we were lucky that someone have pre-ordered this dish so we could have the other half), Earth pot Fish (barramundi), Stir-fried green bean, Braised Pork Ball, XLB, and Braised Rice Cake with shredded pork (the latest three dishes are the signature Shanghainese dishes). Honestly, it is very hard to say which dish is the best because the standard is very consistent. Homemade style just like you have dinner at home. However, the first time experience of Earth pot fish (particularly the pancakes accompanied with the pot and the homemade noodles at the end). Overall the bill is only $140.00 dollars, which reflects a high CP ratio and deserves extra-marks for the review; therefore a full mark is granted this time. 28 days ago Rating 4/5Although the English trading name is the same as before, the Chinese name reflects that this restaurant is under new management. Trading strategy is very homey with only one lady running the show in the dining room, who takes orders and run in & out form the kitchen. There is another gentleman who stays in the kitchen doing all the preparation. Therefore, we did not expect to have normal service as the other restaurant but prepared to have dinner at home :). Order XLB as the a-must and the stir-fried rice cake with pork to test the authenticity. Besides that we also placed orders of pork with hot & pungent sauce and also a Chitterlings noodle soup. XLB came first, which was passable with soup and thin pastry 4/5). Taste of rice cake dish was very good but we preferred to have a softer texture for the rice cake (4/5). Portion of Pork dish was surprisingly large and the taste really delivered the pungent and hot elements (4/5). Chitterlings were stewed perfectly tender and the noodle soup again was served in a large portion.Even though this eatery is very homey but we will definitely return to try other Shanghainese dishes soon.April 23, 2016 Rating 4/5 Had dinner twice at this place lately. Doubtless, it is much appreciated the homey dishes that they are serving for the locals. Although I could not find many folds on the Xiao Long Bao, the dumplings were juicy and tasty. Eggplant salad was so refreshing. Importantly, the ‘Quickly fried pig kidney was done just perfectly and I suspect that the veg-abalone was a real type of the same kind. Honestly, I could see the passion from the chef and this eatery really bring us the opportunity to try different varieties of Shanghainese dishes. That is true because even our friends from Shanghai do appreciate its authenticity.

We spoke to the Owner a few days earlier while on walkabout at Sunny Park. Phuong Tran and I walk in at 7pm last night to a near empty restaurant but having read Ronnielui2003s review I know the food is good. The waitress is keen to take our order so I ask for several dishes to check out the menu. Our food arrives quickly after 10 minutes. *Hot and Sour Soup is a large serve with shredded chicken. The soup is not too sour and we like this recipe. Rating: 4*The Shallot Pancake is quite heavy, not light and flaky. Rating: 3*Xiao Long Bao are served steaming hot and are tasty with a sweet broth. Rating: 4.5*Sliced Tofu garnished with century egg and preserved vegetables. I like this cold and refreshing dish. Rating: 4*Poached Chicken with a soy based dressing. This cold dish is a simple and tasty dish. Rating: 4Our dinner, served with 2 bowl of steamed rice, come to a very reasonable $42. I will bring my Mum here next week to try more dishes on the menu. Thank you Baos Shanghai!
