Really enjoyed this place, very authentic, one of the things you notice about this place compared with other Chinese restaurants is the lack of pork due to the large population of muslims in Xinjiang, the province this place is named after. Also the use of tomatoes in some of the dishes, not so common in other parts of China but common in the Xinjiang region. The lamb skewers were amazing, and the lamb baozi were good. The noodles are a real dining experience, it is clear that the noodles are made by hand. If you’re looking for real authentic Chinese cuisine, I highly recommend this place. This place and Xian Famous Street Foods in Surfers are the best places to go for region-specific Chinese cuisine on the Gold Coast. If authentic Chinese cuisine isn’t your thing, then go to Noodle Box.
This is one of the places that we must visit everytime we visit Gold Coast. We found this place by accident and the owner convinced us we had to try their amazing lamb skewers and chicken noodle. Two years later we came back for more! This time we brought along our in-laws and they LOVED the chicken da pan ji now they wondered if there is a xinjiang restaurant in Melbourne. Lovely food, must try!
We went there at around 1.15pm with 5ppl. There were another table of 4 that had their food and another table of 3 waiting for food. We waited 30mins and only one of us had received our food. We asked where it was at and was told it’s coming. (We ordered fried rice, salt and pepper tofu, chicken noodles and skewers – kawap). Another 15mins later, we received our food, however the skewers kawap were all undercooked, meat was still sticking to the skewers. We then asked for it to be cooked longer and the meat came back dry, somewhat like microwaved food. Manners did not exist even though we spoke politely to them.. I wouldn’t visit again unfortunately based on everything combined.
