Made an ahead-of-time weeknight dinner reservation for two during a trip to the Hinterland with my partner.Good cocktail and wine menu available (although limited local or Qld selections). We selected the 2-course al-a-carte menu for $65pp and shared the dishes between us. Complimentary amuse bouche soup was light yet flavourful. The octopus and tataki were delicious starter options with various textures and Asian-inspired flavours. The pork belly was perfectly cooked with crispy skin. The red curry duck was delicious with a good amount of spice and heat. We ordered a side of steamed rice with our mains.Smart-casual ambience. Attentive and efficient service. Reasonable prices for a generous feed. Sparkling water option is $11pp.Overall, a lovely Asian-inspired restaurant for fine dining in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
We booked at the Tamarind for our anniversary and it was fairly busy on a Friday night. We chose the 3 course option which was great value and plenty to eat. The eggplant and prawn entree was a exceptional standout, also the red curry duck was mild enough and delicious. For dessert, the rice pudding and chocolate dish was amazing. I couldn’t tell you what was in them but it all worked and tasted great. A great selection of French wines, the setting was busy but intimate enough for a couples dinner, and the staff were attentive and accommodating. A great night.
Tamarind has the most perfect setting and ambience any restaurant could hope for – overlooking the rainforest, with perfectly placed outdoor seating to enjoy a drink before dining, you take in the atmosphere and feel relaxed as soon as you sit down. The service is spot on, we were looked after by three different staff, who were welcoming, friendly and attentive. We chose the two and three course menus and enjoyed strong seafood flavours with an asian twist. The stand out dishes were the fried cauliflower, prawn stuffed eggplant and fish curry. We had a great night and would recommend it to anyone staying in the area!
The breakfast looked beautiful but unfortunately lacked flavour and basic seasoning. It leaves you with a unsettled feeling which is not a good sign for a restaurant. The staff are friendly and the coffee is decent but beyond that I cannot with a clear conscience recommend the Tamarind to anyone.
Firstly we will be returning to the restaurant and I hope very soon. The meals were perfect we started with the spanner crab and the confit salmon followed by half duck and mee grob. The food didn’t miss a beat all delicious and turned out to be great value for money. Slightly lacking in the service department. Seems our waiter forgot to come back for our drink order but on the other hand you could also say they gave us room to breathe and weren’t rushing us. Paid the same money for food at an upmarket pub but this was ahead by leaps and bounds great value for a top shelve restaurant.
