Can only comment on the chips here as that is all we had. Sometimes one just has a hankering for something salty, especially when the sea happens to be so close. The chips were well done nice & crispy (we did request them that way) also generous portion size. The cafe was like one of those old fashioned corner stores from the old days so homely feel to it & clean

Having lived in the area since ’75 I’ve probably eaten at every fish and chip shop around Wynnum Manly. The food from here has been excellent. Very fresh. Perfect portion size. Reasonably priced. Staff were pleasant. It has retained the old seating inside which gives it an old world charm. And you can’t surpass the bay views.

No compasion, no service. I don’t know where to begin. I went in to get ice cream. yeah it wast overly bad but it would have been better if I was able to taste it. the ice cream was half melted and only got worse. I ordered a double cone and got a single and by the time I had a few licks the cone was all but gone. Soggy. so ice cream everywhere. NOT GOOD.as I walked out of the shop I slipped on a wet spot at the entrance and fell directly on my knee. Not one bit of compassion and they couldn’t care less. my partner later took me home to find it swollen like a balloon. Never again am I going here. it only ruined the rest of the day and plans for the next couple of days.

Nothing like a dirty looking old school f&c… none of this fancy pants salad craps with some weird spice no one cares about. Just fish and some grease please. Oh extra chicken salt too.

Fabulous Find!. What a fantastic spot! Huge, fresh, delicious portions, inexpensive, great customer service and very clean and neat… will be visiting regularly every time I come to Manly! It had been a Friday afternoon when a group of us had Manly as a destination. Without a specific restaurant in mind, we wandered past a few places and finally decided on Baywatch Caf.Entering the caf, with a couple of table for two outside, and a few tables and chairs inside, it was quite obvious that this is more likely a place for take away, especially in that its located right across from picnic tables overlooking the water.Greeted by a friendly man behind the counter we all started placing our orders. We were a fairly large group (8 people) but rather than looked stressed, the gentleman seemed very welcoming and cheerful. The menu contained a lot of seafood choices at great prices and alternatives for those who dont eat seafood. I ordered a Hamburger with Bacon ($6.70) and minimum chips ($2.50) and was able to pay with my credit card. While taking our orders, the gentleman behind the counter was able to get orders out at a consistent pace. Pleasantly surprised, it wasnt long before my number came up. We all ended up taking our food to a picnic table and I started in on the chips as this, I believe, is truly a sign of a good fish & chip shop! Hot, delicious and not at all soggy! Crisp and well salted, the chips were quite plentiful and seemed to be bottomless in the bag I was eating them from!Almost full and not yet started on my hamburger, I was shocked at how heavy the weight of it was! It was larger than two hands can manage! The bun was soft and fresh and the massive burger just fit into it! A huge piece of bacon appeared out on either side and the exploding toppings consisted of thinly sliced onions smothered in a tasty sauce. Beetroot was also apparent and plentiful! This burger was massive and shamefully, I was unable to finish it!Although one girl in the group mentioned that her calamari was a bit overdone, she still thoroughly enjoyed it, as did everyone else. We all agreed that the price was amazing, the food was tremendous and that wed be back again for sure!
