The only good thing I really have to say about this place was the view. The service was poor and slow, the food was average at best and once again if I’d been dining solo like I do on most occasions I would have been eating my food standing up.

Went there went there for Sunday lunch – 7 people. We had a beautiful setting on the water under the tree. Great location. Orders to be taken at the counter inside. The menu promised great things and we placed our order. The waitress showed up with 7 dirty glasses and some dodgy looking bottles of water which was a tinge green… :(The meals arrived about 20 mins later…everything looked very appetising. We ordered two prawn linguines, two chicken & mushroom risottos, a beef burger, a chicken burger and a seafood marinara fettuccine. Everything was delicious! EXCEPT the seafood marinara which was terrible. It smelt of old frozen seafood marinara mix and the texture was soggy and overcooked – inedible. The service was average, with no special attention made to looking after patrons. Just more to bring the food to the tables and cart away the finished meals.Overall, it was a disappointing experience, but could have been much better as there we really good points and really bad points. Things can be fixed to make it a consistently good place to go to, though.

was here on the weekend and let me just just say the atmosphere is amazing we only waited 20 mins for our fresh seafood platter definitely worth it as we understand good quality fresh food isnt served in 10-15mins..definitely reccomending to others and coming back again.

Mother’s day breakfast. Self service, long waits (well over an hour) meals came out at different times meaning some of us were completely finished before others were served. Poached eggs were overcooked, other food wasn’t bad but as said in previous reviews, staff weren’t overly pleasant.. empty cups were moved around the table by staff looking at pieces of paper they had stuck to the table regarding the next bookings, but did not take the dirty cups/plates. The cafe was very busy due to mother’s day however maybe more staff or set number of bookings would have beneficial. Won’t be rushing back anytime soon..

Cafe La Mer Manly. VERY self service, disappointing. Waitress wouldn’t even bring us a menu even though she was going inside and out with dishes. Food and coffee nice. Would I go again? No

Good view poor service. Cafe la mar was a bit of a let down after reading good reviews. The view and day on the harbour was beautiful I’ll give them that as for everything else it was disgraceful. The staff need to be trained appropriately they were rude and unprofessional, they made myself, friends and family feel as if we were a burden to them. Smug looks and remarks if we asked a question or even spoke to them. We waited 30 mins for our coffees, the place wasn’t even busy so I don’t see what took so long and if that wasn’t bad enough we waited over an hour for our food. Will not be going back, was quite embarrassed as I chose the location. My mistake.

If you like aweful service, definitely come here. Have read and heard lots of great reviews about this place but unfortunately this was an utter disappointment. We booked a table outside which was the only good thing about this place, the view was quite nice. However, we arrived and were taken to the table and she stated that it was counter service but she would bring us menus. No menus arrived and so one of us went in to be rudely told that they do not give out menus. Ordered breakfast and drinks which was quite overpriced for the quality of the food. The service was absolutely appalling. Firstly the waitstaff were extremely rude and when delivered our drinks the waitress placed the whole entire tray full of coffee onto our table only to give us one drink from the tray, our food took 45 minutes to arrive, and the presentation of the crab omelet that my mother in law ordered is the photo attached below which is actually quite poor. The waitstaff did not apologise for the wait on the food, despite approaching them to ask about our meals after we had waited so long. We will not be back, which is extremely disappointing due to the number of reviews and comments that we have heard about this place. The food was average, at least it wasn’t bad, but they really need to provide some quality service. Oh and word of advice to our waitress, if you continually have to pull down your mini skirt, it’s probably too small, maybe best to wear something a little more appropriate next time.
