Another 5 Star MealGiven that Flaxton Gardens is promoted as a wedding venue, you would expect that they would be on-top of their food game. This proved to be the case. The venue is pleasantly maintained and quite picturesque. We enjoyed the Grilled Barramuni Fillet with Gnocchi, Kale & Pumpkin and Confit Duck Ala Orange with Caramelized Chorizo and Brussel Sprouts. The services was prompt and efficient.

We had a lovely lunch as part of a large group. I had the gnocchi which was a little on the dry side but the flavours were delicious. The brownie for dessert was merely average and lacked the fudgy centre but it was generously sized (big enough to share) and came with a delicious ice cream. I could have had the ice cream on its own. Service was generally good but they could have come to the table more frequently for drinks orders.

Very disappointed- cold, crowded and overpriced!. I went here to have high tea for my sister-in-law’s baby shower, and for the price of $40pp, I think it was ridiculous. We received a welcome drink on arrival, and then seated on one long table, so it was hard to hear what the people at the other end were talking about. Considering that the day we went was pouring with rain and quite cold, the front door of the barn was kept open at all times, and no heating was around. The actual food we received was ok rather than fabulous. Too much sweet stuff- a selection of cakes, and a freshly made scone with jam and cream. The only savoury things were one small ribbon sandwich each and a couple of cold spring rolls. Considering the weather, perhaps it would’ve been better to do less sweet stuff, and more hot savoury. Once we finished with our food, we had either tea or coffee- no hot chocolate, latte’s or cappuccinos and then that was that. The staff didn’t really know what they were doing, I had to remind them to bring both my mother-in-laws coffee and my tea well after everyone else on the table got theirs. My cousin asked if there was somewhere if she could change her baby, and was told she had to do it outside. Only one single toilet was available, and there was another group of people having a function with probably fifty people. For the price, I think it was a complete rip off, I had high tea at a local chain cafe for $27.50 the other day and we received much nicer food and we could have whatever hot drink we wanted.

Dinner. Beautiful food, great staff but the decor in the dining room is starting to look a little sad & dated. Light bulbs need replacing, chandaleire needs dusting and perhaps a bit of greenery. Other than that a lovely night.

Wow!. My hubby and I went here for dinner recently while staying at Montivlle for the weekend. I’m so glad we went despite some of the negative reviews posted. It was a Saturday night and surprisingly quiet (we were one of 4 tables in total). Happy to say the food was incredible! Started off with some dip and olives. The olives were particularly good. I had the slow roast lamb and my hubby had the pork belly. Both dishes were massive and sooooo good. The meat was so tender it just fell apart. Sadly there was no room for dessert. Would definitely go again next time we’re in the area.
